I connected my WPDatatables account to an API service account to fix the most recent glitch where they couldn't populate. After connecting the account my new datatables updated but all the previous datatables are marked "Forbidden"
Google has recently updated its security policies, affecting how Google Spreadsheets connect to third-party applications.
As a result, existing spreadsheets created before this change will continue to work without issues. However, newly created Google Sheets will encounter connection errors due to these updated security protocols.
For the newly created Google Sheets with wpDataTables, you’ll need to connect your Google API service account in the plugin settings/Google Spreadsheet API settings.
You can find detailed instructions on setting up a Google API service account here.
If you need to use private sheets, refer to this guide.
Once your Google API service account is added to our plugin, you won’t need to repeat this step, and all Google Sheets functionalities will work as before.
I wrote this in the initial ticket but I have already followed the steps to connect my Google API service account. This worked for all new tables but now the existing spreadsheets created before the change show as “Forbidden” and I can’t edit them.
That is strange. So far, we have received reports from users (as well as from our own testing) that all old spreadsheets are working fine, even without connecting the Google API service account in our plugin settings.
This new method is required for using new spreadsheets, but you are experiencing a different issue—almost the opposite scenario.
My apologies—I misunderstood at first, but after re-reading all the details, I now see what you mean.
Could you check the following:
Did you fully publish these older Sheets by selecting "Publish the entire document" and enabling "If any change is made, automatically re-publish"?
Did you set the Share settings to "Anyone with the link can view"?
I realize you've probably already done this, but just to be sure to double-check if this might be the issue.
If you've verified everything and still can't isolate the problem, could you send us remote Admin access to the site?
If you can provide Admin credentials or create a new Admin user for my email (found in my signature), please mark your reply as PRIVATE for security reasons.

Hi Milo’s,

Thanks,
