I only use events with Amelia. I have about 50 different events, each with its own individual confirmation email. This has worked perfectly so far. I have set up the confirmation emails accordingly.
My problem is that Amelia has recently started sending 2 confirmation emails. One of them contains the correct text that is activated for this event and the other contains incorrect text. I cannot find out where this incorrect text is. Even if I deactivate the confirmation email completely, the system continues to send exactly these 2 emails.
Not only that, after I deactivated a confirmation email that was activated for another event, the system sent 4 identical notifications with this incorrect text. Now I have restored a backup from yesterday so that the malfunction described first (1 correct and 1 incorrect email) has been restored.
I think the problem first occurred after I changed the text of a confirmation email.
My Amelia version is 8.0.2. I'm attaching the system information for you.
Thanks for reaching out to us. My first guess (without a detailed investigation) is that the same language may have been added twice, and you’ve configured the text for the second template. Let me explain:
If your default language is set to English, for example, Amelia allows you to add additional languages for multilingual sites. However, if the same language is added again under Additional Languages in General Settings, it creates two notification templates for that language. You may have configured one template, but the system could be sending the other.
Whats strange is that you mentioned disabling the confirmation email, yet those emails are still being sent. Could you please provide a screenshot of those emails?
The two confirmation emails that were sent despite deactivation are identical to those when the confirmation email was active. Screenshots are added. Isn't it even more strange that 4 confirmations are sent if I deactivate any other confirmation? Cheers Mareike
Yes, that's certainly strange. Just to understand a bit better this use case. You have configured some events and each time someone books the place for event, two confirmation emails are sent, but they've had incorrect texts. You've restored the backup now, so its working properly, but the confirmation emails are sent even if the templates are turned off.
That's not entirely correct. … two confirmation emails are sent, but one has the correct text and one has an incorrect text. (Incidentally, the wrong text is sent with every booked event.)
I have restored the backup now because the system started sending 4 confirmation emails (after I deactivated a confirmation email that belongs to another event as a test), so the system still sends 2 confirmations.
I had deactivated a confirmation email as a test and made the booking, after which the system still sent both confirmation emails
Thanks again for the access. Now it works. You've had the same language added twice in Amelia settings. German is configured as default language in Wordpress settings, so there is no need to have this language in Addtional languages settings. This will create a new notification template for the additional language, even though the language is the same. So, i have removed it
Also, I've noticed that you have a lot of custom notification template and most of them have the "event booked" status. For example, three notifications templates are assigned to the same events
Of course, when someone book an event, all templates that are assigned to this event will be sent. We recommend having a single template configured for each status, you can also use default templates.
Hello Stefan, Thanks for your feedback. I immediately made 2 test bookings and noticed that 2 confirmations were still being sent. So deactivating the additional language setting didn't help.
I understand your point about the many notification templates, but unfortunately the customer's requirements are that almost every event should contain an individual passage in the notification.
After the 2 test bookings that I made at the beginning, I went into the backend. I corrected some confirmation emails that were assigned to past events by not assigning them an event and saving the template. I then made a test booking and now the system is sending 9 confirmations!!! (see screenshot).
Addendum: I have since restored the previous backup, so now at least only 2 emails are sent instead of 9. I have deactivated the additional language setting.
Is it possible that the Amelia plugin cannot cope with the number of events and their confirmation messages? That would be very bad...
