Hello, I am having trouble with the booking notifications not being sent via email to either the customer or the staff. Emails can be sent from the website using SMTP, but Amelia's emails do not work with the same settings. Additionally, some employees' Google calendars do not sync or only partially sync. In my own Google calendar, some days' entries are nicely shown as closed times in Amelia, but if I add more entries, the times do not get marked as closed in the bookings anymore. Please help!

    Hello Triinu,

Thanks for reaching out to us. First of all, you want to make sure that your notifications setup is correct. For mail settings, we recommend SMTP protocol. You would need to configure the sender name, username and etc. Please find more information on this link.

For the Google Calendar sync, there is an option called "maximum number of events returned per page" in Google Calendar settings. You want to increase this to a higher number. From our experience, we can tell that this affects the number of appointments/events  in Google Calendar, so more appointments should be visible.

Please, let me know when you check.

    Kind Regards,

Hello again, I have tried to configure the emails in different ways, but none of the versions work. I am also attaching pictures as attachments. The contact form on my website works through “localhost 25”, but then I shouldn't have to enter a username and password. Unfortunately, these are mandatory fields in Amelia. Maybe the problem lies there?

Additionally, unfortunately, I am unable to set events in Google Calendar to a larger capacity. I read online that the default is 250 events per month or so. I have about 100 events per month. For all employees combined, maybe 250. Could the problem be something else?

    Hello Triinu,

Here is the configuration for SMTP mail settings

     A Google SMTP example:

    • SMTP Host – smtp.gmail.com
    • SMTP Port – 587
    • SMTP Secure – TLS
    • SMTP Username – Your Gmail address
    • SMTP Password – Your App password (details about setting up an app password can be found in the yellow notice section below)

The most commonly used SMTP Ports are 465 and 587. Port 465 uses “SSL” as SMTP Secure, while port 587 uses “TLS” as SMTP Secure

    • . Make sure to check what the correct SMTP settings are for your mailing provider.

    Google SMTP (Gmail accounts):

From 30 May 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password, so “Allow less secure apps” will be removed.

In order to continue using SMTP with Gmail, you will need to set up an App Password for Amelia. App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on. Instructions about this can be found on Google’s Documentation, here.

For detailed set-up instructions, please take a look at this article on our official support platform.

Microsoft SMTP (outlook, hotmail, live, and office365 email accounts):

If you’re having issues using SMTP with your Microsoft account, please make sure to set up an App Password for Amelia. App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on in the Security Basics section of your Microsoft account. Instructions about this can be found on Microsoft’s Documentation, here.

For detailed set-up instructions, please take a look at this article on our official support platform.

As for the event number,  you can surely increase it higher than the 250. You would need to make sure the option "remove busy slots" in enabled first and then you will be able to increase the number.

    Kind Regards,

    Hello again,

I managed to fix the Google Calendar issue, it was indeed due to the number of entries. Thank you.

However, the emails still don't work. Is it possible to check somewhere what the error code is? It only shows that the email cannot be sent. No code is displayed. I also called my web hosting provider, and there are no restrictions set on their end, and all the data is correct.

    Best regards,
    Triinu

    Hello Triinu,

Great. Well, there is an option to inspect the issue through the developers console, but since you've checked already with the hosting, we can pretty much narrow down the issue to the wrong credentials. You can provide the WP admin credentials, and I can log in to take a look.

Okey, I will send you them in private.

    Hello again

I tried re-entering the Amelia-settings-notification settings data with my Gmail address (using the code generated for the API) and again with the web hosting email. It still doesn't work, but now I finally got an error code "error request failed with status code 403" when saving the data. When sending a test notification email, it doesn't give an error code, it just writes error.

    Best regards
