I have two issues occurring with my Amelia setup lately.

    1. Only the first e-mail is being sent out, all other e-mails (when I change the status in the backend) is not being sent out to the customer.

    2. When I changed the working time in the backend from 09:00-16:00 it doesn't show in the frontend booking form.

Can you help here? Thanks a lot.

    Hello Stefanie,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

    1. Can you please let me know which Mail service you have configured on the Amelia/Settings/Notifications page?

    2. Please check if you configured the working hours properly on the Amelia/Employees page.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hey Uros!

    Thanks for your answer.

    1. PHP mail. It's strange because all e-mails are working just one specifically isn't. Tried multiple times. It's the e-mail "Termin freigegeben" that's not being sent out to customers after I confirmed the booking.

    2. Thanks a lot, I was able to resolve!

    Hello Stefanie,

We strongly recommend changing mail service setting to SMTP because email that is sent with PHP Mail generally gets flagged as spam by mail servers and also can take some time to send. See below how to configure SMTP mail services.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) – In this article, we show how to configure the SMTP mail service for Gmail, but you can set it up for any other outgoing service that supports SMTP for a mail client. When you select this option, four inputs will appear – you need to populate them to configure SMTP properly. A Google SMTP example:

    • SMTP Host – smtp.gmail.com
    • SMTP Port – 587
    • SMTP Secure – TLS
    • SMTP Username – Your Gmail address
    • SMTP Password – Your App password (details about setting up an app password can be found in the yellow notice section below)

The most commonly used SMTP Ports are 465 and 587. Port 465 uses “SSL” as SMTP Secure, while port 587 uses “TLS” as SMTP Secure. Make sure to check what the correct SMTP settings are for your mailing provider.

    Google SMTP (Gmail accounts):

From 30 May 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password, so “Allow less secure apps” will be removed.

In order to continue using SMTP with Gmail, you will need to set up an App Password for Amelia. App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on. Instructions about this can be found on Google’s Documentation, here.

For detailed set-up instructions, please take a look at this article on our official support platform.

Microsoft SMTP (outlook, hotmail, live, and office365 email accounts):

If you’re having issues using SMTP with your Microsoft account, please make sure to set up an App Password for Amelia. App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on in the Security Basics section of your Microsoft account. Instructions about this can be found on Microsoft’s Documentation, here.

For detailed set-up instructions, please take a look at this article on our official support platform.

    Hey Uros!

Thanks for this hint - I just changed it to SMTP and now it works perfectly and super fast too!
Also one more question: I activated another language on the Amelia Plugin (German and English now) but the English never shows - even when I use an English VPN. When does the plugin show the English version?

    Thanks a lot.

    Best,
    Steffi

    Hello Stefanie,

Thank you for the update on this.

Please note that we do not have translators in our company, so all translated languages Amelia has have been translated by our customers. If you find any inconsistencies with the translation, please feel free to correct them using POEdit, or Loco Translate, open a ticket and send us the corrected translation, so we can add it to the plugin.

At the moment we have Spanish, German, Dutch, Russian, Romanian, French, Finnish, Italian, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese, Greek, Arabic, Slovak, Hungarian, Danish, Belgian, Japanese, Polish, Hebrew, and Chinese translation. Approximately 90-95% of the plugin is translated into the languages stated above.

To apply any of these languages, all you need to do is go to WordPress' General settings and set the site language to your language.

Please note that the languages mentioned above work only for certain locales. For example, we have Spanish (Spain) translation, which is saved with es_ES locale, but if you set your site language to be Spanish (Mexico), Amelia will not pick up the translation, since the locale is es_MX.

The solution here would be to either change WordPress' language from Spanish (Mexico) to Spanish (Spain), or access ../wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/languages/ folder, and to copy the "es_ES" folder. Paste it in the same path (ameliabooking/languages) and rename the folder to "es_MX". Then, access the folder, and rename the two files from "ameliabooking-es_ES.po" and "ameliabooking-es_ES.mo" to "ameliabooking-es_MX.po" and "ameliabooking-es_MX.mo".

    NOTIFICATIONS:

Notification templates are not included in the translations mentioned above, so when you access Amelia/Notifications, all templates will be in English. However, if your site is set to German (for example), the de_DE locale will be applied, and Amelia will use the templates you see in Amelia/Notifications, so if you don't translate these, all email notifications will be sent in English.

In cases like this, DO NOT add your language as a secondary language in Amelia. It is the primary language of your website, and Amelia will use it as a primary language.

Since your site is configured to your language in WordPress General Settings (German in this example), you only need to translate the templates you see when you land in Amelia/Notifications. The language drop-down you see in the top right is used only for additional languages (so, if the site is in German, you will add English, Spanish, Dutch, etc) through this menu:

    3109574757.png

So, if you have issues with emails coming in in English, instead of the language your WordPress site is set to, make sure you haven't added your language as the additional language, and translate the templates you see when you land in Amelia/Notifications.

    Uros Jovanovic

This is exactly what I meant. German is the base language and it works just fine but I added some parts in English. These parts though won't show when an American website visitor books through the Amelia interface. But maybe it's not simply meant to show it based on IP location?

    Hello Stefanie.

There's something wrong with the language on the English pages. Even though I selected English, the locale loaded on the page in German (see the attached screenshot).

Can you please check the language plugin and see if you can configure it to change the locale language?

If you can't fix this, please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.

We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.

    Hello Stefanie.

    I took a look, but I can't figure out what's wrong.

To be honest, I've never encountered GTranslate before, but there aren't many settings in this plugin so I can't say why it's showing German locale on an English page. Maybe they're dynamically translating everything (which would explain the lowercase letters in our form) but that won't work with Amelia.

The locale needs to be changed in order for Amelia to work correctly.

Can you reach out to their support team, send them my screenshot, and ask them if this is expected and if it can be changed?
