Hi wpDataTables team and congratulations for your great work with the plugin,

I'm making tests with MySQL based DataTables and I've taken a look to the FAQ and support section but I still have a quick question.

I have a MySQL table with more than 20000 rows and I would like to know if there is any way to edit the data with the backend editor. Is the front-end edition for restricted roles / users the unique way to make changes in this kind of tables?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Best regards,

    Hi Enric,
    Thank you for your purchase.

It is not so clear to me. Can you explain me your question in more details? Do you want to restrict some user types to edit your table from front-end?

Hi Milos and thanks for your quick response,

No, I would like to know if it's possible to edit / update with the back end editor the data of one table created with any of these mechanisms: MySQL query or existing MySQL DB tables.

For example, for tables created by the DataTables constructor and prepare structure and input all the data manually mechanism, a "Edit Data" and "Edit in Excel-Editor" buttons appear in the archive, but with the tables created with MySQL query or existing MySQL DB tables the button doesn't appear (in the back end).

The unique way to edit / update the data that I can identify is make the table front end editing and change the data through the front-end.

    Make sense now?

    Thanks for your help,

    Hi Enric,

Unfortunately it is not possible to Edit Data when you create MySQL based tables. It is possible just for Manual table type.

    Hi Milos,

    Ok, thanks for your help.

I have a couple of more questions:

    - Imagine that I have a table of data with 5 columns. I'm printing three of them for each row in the front end. It would be possible in any way to create a link / button to offer to the user to view the invisible columns? Something like view all data for each row.

    - Is there any way to change the number of items to show in the dropdown? By default I have 10, 25, 50, 100 and All options. It would be possible in any way to change / modify these values? In case not, is there any way to hide the "All" option? My database has more than 20.000 rows and selecting All option is causing the crash of the page.

    Thanks again for your help,

    Hi Milos,

I've been able to delete the "All" option in the dropdown, so I can continue with the development and we can close the ticket.

In case I have new doubts in the next weeks, I'll open a new separated ticket.

Thanks again for your help and support,
