I've been testing Amelia's awesome features on my staging website for the past few days. I noticed that when I wanted to book a recurring service it started to calculate the price for each of the appointments, even though in the settings I chose the option to pay only for the first appointment. Interestingly, it seems like the first few times I was booking the recurring appointments it was correctly showing the price, but after a few tests it broke.
(please forgive the questionable service names as this is a testing website where I provide cat massage and hugs ...)
Thank you for testing Amelia and for sharing the details! The issue you're experiencing happens because on-site payment mode is enabled. When this mode is active, the system calculates the price for each individual appointment by default.
Please check the following video on how to set the email field as mandatory.
Sorry to bother you more but I have a follow-up question about recurring appointments.
I've been trying to have some services in which the payment is subscription based. I've been reading a lot of tickets/posts etc. and I do know that for now Amelia doesn't plan on implementing subscriptions, so I've been trying to find a workaround. I decided to use payment link connected to stripe where a customer only has to pay for the first appointment. Then in Stripe this payment will repeat every month. Hence my question why it was multiplying. So will it also multiply if I choose a payment via link payment method even when I set it for "pay only for the first appointment"? I wanted the customer to be able to choose however many appointments they need in a month, set the recurring dates and then they pay a fixed price for a month (so I was thinking a payment only for the first appointment). Is that possible?
I'm also misunderstanding how payment via link works. I cannot set it as a default payment method? Does it show up in any way to the customer during booking process, like an information, that payment will be done via link in step-by-step booking? Whenever I tried to test I could only see "method:on-site" and the price multiplied by number of occurences. After I activated Stripe and for a specific service changed payment method to "payment via link", still in step by step booking I have to fill credit card information to proceed because I Stripe was chosen in general settings as a default payment method. That doesn't really make sense. So how can I pay via link and skip other payment methods if it's overridden by default payment method?
Additionally, when I put placeholder %payment_link_stripe% in the notification for pending appointment nothing appears in the email. The link doesn't generate. I'm sorry but the documentation is not clear enough for me. How is this link generated? Don't I have to provide a link from stripe to a corresponding product? Besides, even if I have a link ready (not using placeholder at all) and I put in the notification email for pending appointment I cannot skip another payment method. Please I tried to read up on payment via link method here, and in documentation but it's all very vague and I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something or something just doesn't work for me.
Thank you for your detailed message. The calculations for the on-site payment method are done this way because the payment is not processed at the time of booking. Therefore, there is no need to display the price for each appointment separately.
Could you kindly provide us with a screen recording or screenshots showing how you set up the payment link? That will help us understand the issue better and assist you more effectively.
What do you mean? :) I was waiting for your reply to tell me if I'm doing it correctly. So I didn't get any support from you and you ask me if it's working fine now? So what was the point of me sending a screen recording, screenshots and decribing everything to the smallest detail?
I asked you very specific questions which were sadly not answered. You kept me waiting for 2 days only to ask if it's working now? Day by day I'm getting more disappointed with the plugin and customer support. I cannot proceed with any work without solving these issues. If every two days you reply to me like this, I will seek refund.
To answer your question, YES it's working exactly as before as I showed you on the screen recording. Would you kindly assist me in figuring out if I'm doing it wrong or should I just keep trying to test it blindly on my own hoping that this time it magically works because no documentation nor customer support can apparently help me.
I appreciate you taking the time to check it. It seems that the link is generating for me as well.
1) I'd like to clarify one thing - If I want the customer to pay via link I will have to enable payment on-site and customize the label to say "payment via email" (or similar)?
2) Question connected to 1) - In order for my customer to be able to pay via link I will also have to enable payment by stripe? I was testing it extensively and it seems that I have to have to have two options enabled (stripe and payment link) for the link in the email and customer panel to be generated. As a consequence, in the booking process the customer will have a choice to pay by card (Stripe) OR payment on-site (that I name to "payment via email")? So basically I cannot limit them to only payment via link? Is that correct?
As you can see the reason payment link is not generated is that I didn't enable payment by stripe.
In the email payment link is not appearing as well. It seems that is the reason why the payment link wasn't appearing for me previously.
So my questions stands - is it correct that there is no way to only enable payment on-site which will also means that customer cannot be forced to pay exclusively via link?
You're right that if you enable both on-site and Stripe payment methods for a specific service, the payment link placeholder will still be rendered properly, even if the customer chooses the on-site payment method on the front end. This means that the payment link will not be exclusively required if the customer opts to pay on-site.
If you need further assistance or have any additional questions, feel free to reach out.

I noticed one more problem: even though I set email as mandatory field, in step-by-step booking form I can proceed without an email field filled out.
I don't know if I should open another ticket for this. If yes I will do so

Ok thank you! Is there any reason that on-site payment is calculated differently?
For now I can't test a different payment method. I'm hoping it will work fine for me :)

Hello Kinia,
Thanks for the update on this.
What happened with the later tests, was the payment link generated fine or was it just like before?

Hello Kinia,
Thank you very much for your patience.
I just tested it out and it worked just fine with paying recurring appointments via payment link.
