I performed a customer test and noticed a strange behavior with email management.
A client first created an account using an @icloud.com address. Later, they wanted to run another test using an @gmail.com address. However, they still received the confirmation email at their @icloud.com address. It seems that, even after entering a new email, Amelia continues to associate the client with their initial account without updating the information.
Thanks for reaching out to us. By default, Amelia "stores" each customer in Amelia Customer section, including the email address, however, it's not automatically assigned to WP user. There are two options - Check customer's name for existing email/phone when booking and "Automatically create Amelia Customer user"
If the "Check customer's name for existing email/phone when booking" option is enabled, already registered customers will need to use the same name, email, or phone number as previously registered when making a booking.
The other option will tell Amelia to automatically create a new WP user for each new customer and assign it to the same WP user.
If none of these is turned on, then the customer can book multiple appointments with the same email but under a different name or last name.
I'm not sure I fully understood everything, but the best option to avoid the issue my client encountered seems to be to enable email verification and add a notification recommending that customers always use the same information for each booking. Is that correct?
Well, you can certainly add the email verification (with custom script), however, with the option enabled, they would need to use the same first and last name anyway. Of course, if their information is already registered. Amelia by default will associate the email notifications with the email address of the customer who initially booked, but each customer must have a different email address.
