We like to inform our end users who they can search the data we make available. Is there an article on the knowledge base? I could unfortunately not find it.
It would be great if you can help me with this, it becomes urgent in our site. We need to explain how to most efficiently get to the records users are after, and smart search is the way. Let me know if there is some help text I could dive into.
This ticketing platform has been a nightmare in the past couple of months - if you hadn't just responded to your ticket, it would probably go by unnoticed because it was automatically marked as "resolved" for some reason. We'll switch to a better system in a few months, so I hope we won't face these issues anymore.
While wpDataTables doesn't currently support case-sensitive or wildcard searches, it does offer a few useful filtering options:
Exact Match: This can be configured for Selectbox and Text Filters.
AND Logic for Multiselectbox Filters: This allows results to match multiple selected criteria simultaneously.
I am more looking to query in the front-end UI. We have the global search bar enabled and like end-users to basically search the google way so typing "Name" or using boolean criteria, all without filters in the backend.
Is that possible? And if not, can I place a hook in the search bar to make this happen?
to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there, and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.
You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like ( it is also available in the plugin dashboard), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;
and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.
If you have coding skills and wish to try to make a custom solution now, you can check out our available hooks for Developers on this documentation and see if you can find any hook that might help.
We also added this new developer's handbook, which can allow users with coding skills to make custom add-ons.
Our developers will keep adding more custom hooks/examples there over time.
Please be advised that custom solutions with hooks are not included in our support.
You can also research resources such as Stack Overflow to see if any other user perhaps found a workaround.
( We do like to give examples for certain solutions, but for this use-case, we, unfortunately, don't have anything yet)
Hello @Guddelmoni andrea, I checked, and colleagues have responded to all your open tickets, so please double-check the replies and they will keep following up on them.
Secondly, this is a ticket for the wpDataTables Plugin, while your tickets are about the other, Amelia Booking Plugin, so please avoid writing on unrelated Plugin tickets, since that wastes your and our time and it will not speed up the reply time from colleagues, we go over all tickets in order as they are received.
added the request, it would just be so cool to give the end users a simple way to drill down tables with a google like user interface that allows for boolean etc. .
Hi,
We like to inform our end users who they can search the data we make available. Is there an article on the knowledge base? I could unfortunately not find it.
I am thinking about constructs like:
"Name"
Name
Name OR name2
Name%
Etc
Thank you so much!
Michiel

Bonjour ! j'ai publier un ticket hier c'est possible d'avoir une réponse ????!!!
Hi Michiel,
Unfortunately, we don't currently have any built-in way to achieve the use case as you described it.
You can suggest it to our developers, though - they will do their best to make a solution in the future.
Please feel free to search on our suggestions page,

Hi Michiel,
Just a small follow up.
Thank you for adding the suggestion, it is a great idea for a future feature indeed. :)
As you know, if anything else comes up, please don't hesitate to open new tickets.
