I am uploading a brand new website on the exact same domain www.solido2.co.za I am curious is there a way to export ALL information on amelia (not just bookings) but employees, locations, settings etc so that when we launch the new site we can quickly upload the exported info and have everything still there as the site has on the export.
Or let us know what database tables or where what we can do this effectively.
Ideally, on the hour, I want to export all info and load the new website (already has amelia plugin on it as we exported the old website 4 months ago but a lot of info has changed on Amelia side since 4 months ago); then on loading the new website, upload the exported info
Unfortunately, currently this feature is not available in Amelia. The Pro 1 license that you have covers one domain, but an unlimited number of its sub-domains.
-1. The best option is if you have the staging installation, on a sub-domain,
you can activate the license on a limitless number of sub-sites like that.
Also to note,
you are only required to activate your license on the live/production version of a website.
When you need to test the plugin on a staging/test/dev version website, or on your local /intranet installation,
there you can just manually download the Plugin installation from your TMS Store account,
and you can also manually update the license without activation.
2. If you need to change the domain on the license,
the easiest way is to log in to the 'old site' WP-Admin, go into our Plugin settings/Activation, and hit "deactivate" button on the licence there;
Go in the new website, in the Plugin settings/Activation, and just paste the Purchase code there;
It will automatically recognize that your license is now switched/registered to the new domain.
-
You can also do this through the Store Account.
In our store go to "My Licenses" and click on the "Manage Domains" button:
From there, you will be able to deactivate the old domain (while it's still active), and then simply activate the new domain in wpDataTables settings/Activation, once you move the site.
-
Regarding migrating the Amelia installation so that you don't lose any data;
The easiest way is to clone your website.
You can do that by using the Duplicator plugin. It will generate a couple of files that you can transfer to the new domain and it will create an exact copy of your website.
The Duplicator plugin can export only up to 500MB of data, so if your site is bigger than that, you can use the All-in-One WP Migration plugin.
Now this is the most important part regarding your question since we do not have option to export complete Amelia
- Other than cloning your website, there's a way to migrate only Amelia's database tables.
There are around 47 tables with wp_amelia_ prefix that need to be moved. Please note that wp_ is the default database prefix, but on your end, it could be anything, so look for your_prefix_amelia_ tables.
Besides that, you also need to go to wp_options and search for option_name "amelia_settings" - which returns one row, so you need to copy the option_value and paste it in the same field on the other site.
Note that this contains all the info from your old website, so you will need to replace the URLs in this cell. Hope this helps.
Should you have any further inquiries, we kindly request that you open separate tickets for each question and we will gladly help you there.
We wish you all the best and hope you have a wonderful day ahead.
Forgive me if I am not reading your response correctly but to my understanding you have completely misunderstood the task at hand. 1. "best option to have the staging installation on sub-domain" - this has nothing to do with having amelia on multiple domains or sub-domains etc. It is about loading the most up to date information to the website that overwrites the old website (exact same domain). We do not edit our website in live mode and while we are making massive changes that take months, Amelia is being updated with new employees, appointments, location changes, price/service changes etc....so when the new website is ready, we need to export and import the updated amelia info.
2. "Changing domain on license" - again you are talking about things I did not ask about.
Lastly - I think your final response "Regarding migrating the Amelia installation so that you don't lose any data;" - is something my team can work with. Thank you
We have covered everything just in case. We understand that the last part regarding tables is most usefully but since you are working with other part as well we just wanted to cover everything in case that you need it in the future.
