I think I am not the first one to report this. we have WP users that are already customers and we cannot make employees out of them. Error message: email adress already in use. Assigning roles by a role editor does not solve the issue.
Thank you for reaching out. This issue occurs because in WordPress, email addresses must be unique for each user, and since your existing customers are already registered as WordPress users, their email addresses can't be used again when assigning them as employees in Amelia.
Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the system as it works with the WordPress user structure. The only way around this would be to either update the email address for the user or create a new user profile for the employee with a unique email.
I understand this might not be ideal, but this is how it functions at the moment.
I disagree. It is okay to have one Wordpress user per email address. But this Wordpress user can have several roles- I think, what is missing in the UI is the possibility to select an existing WP user to make them an employee.
Currently, Amelia does not offer the option to select an existing WordPress user to assign them as an employee, as this could create conflicts between user roles and permissions. Each employee in Amelia is created separately to ensure their role and access are managed independently within the plugin.
If you have further feedback or suggestions, feel free to share them—we appreciate your thoughts!
