I saw your full whatsapp integration video.. link above.
But what I'm fundamentally missing here is that I already have whatsapp business on my business phone number.... and now I want to integrate that with Amelia. But Meta doesnt allow for a phone number that's already connected. That seems kind of crazy since it's my only business number and whatsapp is a Meta product so why wouldn't they allow me to configure for that phone number.
Anyway: I think for this reason I cannot complete the Amelia integration.
Unfortunatelly, you have to use a different phone number. You can't use the phone number that is for personal usage and business purposes. You need to enter a separate phone number, which is unique and it not used anywhere else.
But that also implies, ies then that that whole whatsapp conversation started by Amelia will proceed on another phone number and not under my whatsapp business number ... which is kind of crazy since the whole purpose of whatsapp business should be to allow for those kind of integrations right?
Where would I see and follow up communications via that exclusive Amelia-whatsapp number? On my website? Frontend? Backend? On Facebook (hope not)....
WhatsApp communication is "one-way" communication, which means that you can only send notifications to customers when an appointment is booked. There is no option for customers to reply back to those messages. Having different phone numbers is a mandatory option, decided by Meta (Facebook) and we can't affect on those settings. The whole process is explained here, feel free to check it out.
Last question then that is not answered in the instruction..... So say I'm using my regular business telephone number for whatsapp communication (whatsapp business) including a whatsapp button on my website etc. (so I have already separated private whatsapp and businesses whatsapp using the advanced features like product catalogue etc in the latter).... can I then tak a prepaid local simcard and use that telephone number for the Amelia whatsapp (business)?
The problem is: customers will then see that number won't they? Yet you say they cannot reply to that? That's strange since I guess whatsapp allows you to send messages to any valid phone number number right?
Please explain..
Cheers,
Hajo
PS I hope you agree that this is important to know and lacking in your whatsapp info
As long as the phone numbers are different, Whatsapp will allow you to create an account. That being said, the business phone number should be only used for Whatsapp integration purposes. As per Whatsapp configuration, you can't have the same phone number for business and personal use.
Customers will see the number, but they do not have the option to reply back, since it's a "one way" sync. Messages are only sent as reminders or with the booking confirmation. Yet again, this configuration has been instructed by Meta (Facebook) so we only made an integration according to their instructions.
OK. I will test someday with a prepaid card but I think in the end I won't use this then since to the customer it's confusing to get messages from two different numbers.... one no-reply and one with reply possibility. Will keep the whole whatsapp communication separate then.
Yes, unfortunatelly, this is something that we can't change since we can only adapt to rules or instructions from Meta. As far as I know, it was always like this where they required from users to have a unique phone number configured.
