My events start at 8pm but people can still sign up and buy tickets until 10pm. I have not been able to do this with Amelia as the options are to either close event when tickets go on sale or select a time for them to close. If say for today November 4th, I selected that the event close at 10:00pm tonight, when I update the event and click the button to update the following events, they will all close on November 4th, it doesn't follow the same logic for each day, I have 100's of events so going into them manually and changing it one by one is not an option, is there a solution for this?
Thanks for reaching out to us. That's probably because your events are configured as separate events, however, if you configure them as recurring, it should follow the changes made on one event. Unfortunatelly, it's not possible to configure the "sing up" time before the closing time, since Amelia only allow the purchase ticket time to be configured before the event closing time.
This is not true, my events are set up as recurring events. So when I try to leave the event open for an hour or 2 after it's start time, Amelia will update recurring events to close at the same time as the tour I edit.
So I have an event that is a recurring event. If I got to the event today and uncheck the box that says event closes at start time and enter today's date and time slot I want the event to close at, when I update, and select to update all following events. They all follow today's date. So tomorrows event will also close tonight at 10pm, and so will the next day and so on...
Surely this is an error? As what is the point in being able to uncheck the box that says event closes at start time if there is no workable way to edit the closing time for recurring events.
In relation to this "Unfortunatelly, it's not possible to configure the "sing up" time before the closing time, since Amelia only allow the purchase ticket time to be configured before the event closing time."
I'm not sure what you mean? I'm not looking for people to be able to buy tickets after the event has closed, my event is 4-5 hours long, and people continue to join on other platforms an hour or 2 into the event, I want that option on my own site so that I'm not losing money, but obviously I don't want people to be able to buy tickets to an event once it is over, but if an even starts at 8:00pm, and finished at Midnight, I would like to be able to still sell tickets at 9:00pm or 10:00pm if there are customers there willing to buy them.
Thanks for the explanation, there might be a misunderstanding. When creating a new event in Amelia there is an option to create multi-day event and a recurring event. A recurring event is one that is recurring over a specified time period (it can be daily, weekly, or monthly), but when you create a recurring event in Amelia, Amelia actually creates a "separate" event as each recurring event is based on the time period. Here is an example
Think of recurring events as a lecture. For example, you have an event called "Evolution 101" which is a recurring event that recurs every week, on Mondays, from 10:00 - 14:00. Every week, the "Staff" (employee) provides the same lecture, so there'd be no reason why a single customer would want to book the same lecture for X number of weeks (because it is the same lecture every week).
Because of this, every recurring event is considered a separate event, and when a customer books one event, they are not automatically added to all recurring events.
Looking at your use case, having this option disabled in one event, will also be applied to all recurring events, but, if this option is not checked the plugin will calculate the time for opening the booking based on the selected time for the first event.
What I'm trying to do, in its simplest form, is to have a recurring event. To have it run every day. To have it start at 8:00 p.m. and end at 23:55, but for people to still be able to sign up after the start time. So people can still sign up at 10:00 p.m. if they wish.
Take for example today. I have an event that starts at 8:00 pm. When I uncheck the box that causes the event close at the start time, it requires me to put in a date and time. I enter 10:00pm on today's date. When I hit save, it asks me do I want to apply these changes to the subsequent reoccurring events, and I click yes. But on all following events, it says that they close at 10:00pm on the same date as the first event I changed. So if on November 12th, I adjust the event to close at 10:00 pm, the plugin doesn't apply the same logic to the following events, it closes all of the following events at 10:00 pm on November 12th, rendering this feature useless for anything other than once-off events.
Is it possible to do what I want to do and if not is there somewhere I can add a feature request?
Apologies for the delayed answer. Here is how this works. When you want to create a new recurring event you need to configure the date and time and check the option "recurring event". You set this to "Daily" and also the date until they will run.
I've configured the date to 20/11 from 8PM to 23:30PM and unchecked the option "booking closes when event starts" to have the option to configure the closing date manually.
I've configured this to 10PM (as per your example) on the same date. Also, notice that the "apply this to all recurring events" option is enabled. Once I press "save", Amelia creates recurring events (on a daily basis). While an event runs until 23:30, customers can still sign up until 22:00 (this is when the booking will be closed)
