My customers fill up all the rooms, and many times they cancel their reservation at the last minute, but other users who didn’t manage to book a spot in time do not receive any notification that a spot has become available for that specific session. Is there a way for those who missed out on booking a spot to be notified when another customer cancels their reservation so they can make the booking, perhaps through a waitlist?
No, unfortunately, we do not give any time lines but we can say that this is now in testing phase and if all goes well and once we are happy with the way it works we will implement it in Amelia.

Yes, the waiting list has been implemented and this is only for events not for services.
For services you can set for example that status is pending and in settings appointment settings you can set that you allow booking above maximum capacity. This way more customers can book then what you set in service capacity and you can manually approve customers for that appointment.

I read the new feature about Waiting List but as I understand this only effects for Events, is that right?
I've updated the plugin but it doesn't allow me to add Waiting list to my Appointments / Classes.
