We have been using Amelia for a long time but all of a sudden notifications are working. When we test it, the next-day reminder SMS works, but the Appointment Approved email and SMS don't, and neither does the next-day reminder email.
I've change the notification settings to using SMTP, and followed the Gmail app password set up steps. There is a cron set up (we're using WP Crontrol), and it's been re-saved following the changes.
Thanks for reaching out to us. This is surely an issue related to the email configuration. May I ask for the WP admin credentials so I can log in to take a better look? I can try using my credentials, just to confirm.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.
You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Thank you Stefan! I'm sorry to be a pain, I've followed the guidance and read loads of other support tickets but I can't get it to work! I will set you up now and reply privately with the details.
I'm not able to see Amelia, but looking again at the backend, it looks like you don't have Amelia installed at all. You need to install it and then we can proceed with the troubleshooting. In case you need the instructions, you can find them here - Installation
I see now, for some reason, the notifications are not sending with SMTP, but they are working with WP mail. I'm not able to see any issues in dev console, as well.
May I ask for the staging site so we can investigate without changes on the production site?
Hi Stefan, I think I've added a staging site for the first one out of the two I gave you login details for. Please could you let me know if you can't see it?
Just tested again and it's the same issue. For some reason, when sending a test email from notifications, it just gets into the endless loop, but there are no errors visible in the dev console. I would have to consult devs about this, perhaps I'm missing something.
I will get back to you as soon as I have more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Thank you for your patience! No problem at all regarding the delay. We needed FTP access to troubleshoot the issue further, as we couldn't replicate it on our end. This access would allow us to dig deeper and better understand what might be causing the problem.
If you could provide that access, we would greatly appreciate it and will do our best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding!
I am having the same issue with the test email not sending. On top of this I have edited the notification emails and done a test booking, however the email I received is not using the updated template but an out dated one. is there a cache somewhere that needs to be cleared.
Interested in your solution to the test email not sending too which is why I replied in this ticket.
You may also contact their support, referencing Gmail communication using your username and password.
We use PHPMailer for this API integration. To test if your server’s communication with Gmail’s SMTP server is not blocked, you can run the following command in the terminal:
telnet smtp.gmail.com 587
Additionally, we have added a spike in our roadmap to implement a direct API connection to Google's SMTP server, so if everything goes well, it should be included in the next couple of updates.

Also, the Send Test Email function in the Notifications section doesn't seem to work either.

Hi Stefan, Amelia is installed, we're just using a rebranding plugin :-) If you look in the menu for WillCreate Events, that is Amelia.

Hi Laura,
Meanwhile, just wanted to double-check. Are you using a GoDaddy hosting provider? Not able to see this information.

Hello Laura,
You didn't answer Stefan's question regarding GoDaddy hosting. As we can see, once we switch to WP Mail, we receive test notifications:
You can use WP Mail if this does not make a big difference for you.
If you are on GoDaddy, they have a specific setup that needs to be completed in order for SMTP to work.
You can follow their documentation here:
GoDaddy SMTP Documentation

Hello Laura,
Thank you for your patience.
You can also provide us with access to your DNS settings so we can add an SPF record and test SMTP again.
Looking forward to your reply.
