is it possible to turn off showing the number of seats reserved for particular courses?

This is not possible to hide for some events. You can either hide for all of them in customize section or to show this for all events.

I see now this tab "Customize" but probably it doesn't have my option. In website I have my events listed as "Events"
In "Customie" tab I can see only these forms. I turned off showing slots left in Event list Booking Form 2.0 but it is kind of different view.

We can not see your screenshots
But as mentioned what you want to achieve is not possible Im afraid. You can hide this for example on events list form 1.0 but show it in events list 2.0 form but this can not be set per event but form.
