I encountered a bug with the data tables on my website where only administrators can add new rows (data) to the tables. I implemented a workaround to allow frontend editing for other user roles (e.g., editor) to add new data to the table from the admin dashboard.
I’m sending the error I’m getting as an attachment. When I switch to the administrator user role, everything works as it should. Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue?
Second question—where can I find error logs for this kind of issue? I didn’t find any errors in my debug.log.
Unfortunately, we don't currently have any error Log which would show more details other than what comes up on that alert.
You can make a development suggestion if you have an idea what you would like to see in the future such as more detailed error reporting etc, and our devs will do their best to make the desired improvements.
to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there, and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.
You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like ( it is also available in the plugin dashboard), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;
and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.
2. In regards to isolating why that error happens - If I understand, basically, when an Admin is logged in, users who are Admins are able to edit this table without any issue and this error only comes up when another user Role tries to edit?
We would need to see detailed steps, which table and which row, and which column(s) are being edited when that happens, so could you please record a Video to show us these details, and for example you can do it logged as Editor, or any other role which has the issue?
If the Video shows any sensitive data, mark the reply as PRIVATE for security reasons, then only we can see it.
If the video gets too large to be attached on the ticket, you can upload it anywhere like weTransfer and send me a download link.
- If you can then allow us back-end access so that we can inspect this Table configuration?
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your website where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.
You can write credentials here just make sure to mark the reply as PRIVATE and nobody can see them except us.
