Conditional Formatting

Hello. I have several tables that I would like to perform conditional formatting on with a specific caveat. I want to be able to have a row colored if a condition exists in a master/details environment. For instance:

I have a table that includes ratings and feedback. The feedback is a text field. I don't want to show that text field on the front-end because of the added space needed where I will place it on our site. However, I want people to be able to visually see that there is a comment (some don't have comments) and click that row to see the comment/additional details. Basically, I have hidden all but the date column, made that filterable, and added a conditional filter to the feedback column (it just looks for the letter "a" at the moment as I don't think RegEx is possible). When the column is visible, works like a champ. When the column is hidden, no go.

My questions is, can this be done? It appears not to be an out of box possibility. This is one of several examples but with our 200+ tables, I have several use-cases similar to this one.

    Hi Shane,

Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

If I understood, the main point of this use case is, to basically have a hidden field which can work for a Conditional Rule - then for the rows which match the set rule, have that condition 'trigger' a certain behaviour?

Sorry to disappoint you, but this is a current limitation for our Conditional Formatting, it can not 'check the condition' when a cell is not visible in the table.

It only works when the cell which is being checked is visible at the moment.

This is something we plan to improve in the future, but I can't say an ETA on it.

We had a couple of other users ask for it as well, basically to have Conditional Formatting working on a hidden field/cell, but I am not sure if they already created an official suggestion or not.

You can check and if not, you can add your own suggestion to affect the development speed for this specific option/feature.

Please feel free to search on our suggestions page

to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there,  and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.

    You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like ( it is also available in the plugin dashboard), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;

and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.

If you have coding skills and wish to try to make a custom solution now,

you can check out our available hooks for Developers on this documentation and see if you can find any hook that might help.

Please be advised that custom solutions with hooks are not included in our support.

You can also research resources such as Stack Overflow to see if any other user perhaps found a workaround.

( We do like to give examples for certain solutions, but for this use-case, we, unfortunately, don't have anything yet)

    Kind Regards,
