I have been using the free version of your plugin on our website and have been impressed with its robust features. However, I have encountered a few challenges that I hope you can assist me with:
I am unable to edit a specific cell's contents without re-uploading the entire file.
I cannot format text in bold. I have tried to add HTML tags e.g. <b></b> in the Excel file but the moment I upload it, nothing works out.
I am having difficulty creating or uploading long Excel sheets with multiple sections, each with different column headings. This issue causes section headings to appear on the first page of the table, leaving the rest of the content uncategorized.
I am unable to add URLs and customize them to open in a new tab.
I cannot create merged table rows and columns that are responsive across all devices.
I would like to know if these limitations are due to the free version and if the paid version addresses these issues. If so, I am interested in recommending this plugin for purchase by my university, contingent on resolving the aforementioned concerns.
1. The Lite (free) version accepts only Simple tables and tables linked to certain external sources. These tables can't be edited, which is why you're unable to edit the data. Even if you purchase the premium version, these table types (linked to external sources) won't be editable, but you will be able to import these sources which will in turn create Manual tables in the plugin and you'll be able to edit them.
2. Try using <strong></strong> and that should work fine:
3. By default, data is retrieved from the data source each time the page loads. As a result, pages with large tables (over 2,000–3,000 cells) may load slowly or even crash if they become too large. However, with the new caching feature introduced in wpDataTables 5.0 (full version), this problem is partially resolved for large tables connected to an existing data source.
I don't quite understand what you mean by having multiple selections in the sheet - can you please show me what you mean?
4. You can access column settings and set the type to be URL Link. The data in the file, however, needs to be properly formatted in order for the link to work correctly - a full URL needs to include "https://" or "http://". If you add a string, it won't work correctly. So, if the source file contains "https://wpdatatables.com||Check out wpDataTables", the hyperlinked text will be "Check out wpDataTables" while the link will be "https://wpdatatables.com". Within column settings, you can configure the "Open in new tab" rule:
5. Merged cells are only supported in Simple Tables, so tables linked to external sources and manual tables can't use this functionality.
