The detail popup is obviously modal, but I don’t want it to be always on top, and here’s when and why. My detail popup contains thumbnail images. When you click on a thumbnail, it displays the full sized image, but it displays behind the popup instead of in front of it. Users of my site need to see the full sized picture in front of the popup, not behind it where they never get to see it. How can I make this happen?
I’m including two screenshots from my iPhone of the problem. The first shot shows the modal. When I tap the dog’s thumbnail image, a full screen photo attempts to display, but it’s hiding behind the modal. You can see the window controls of the full size photo, but that’s all you’ll see. If you can make the full size photo modal, I imagine it will display on top of the detail popup, which is the way it should work. That way when you kill the photo window, you’re back to the detail popup and can view another thumbnail full size. My detail popup contains seven thumbnails that I want users to be able to view full size simply by tapping the thumbnails. Hope you can make this happen since I’m nearing my website delivery deadline and this is my primary holdup.
Thank you for providing the screenshots, Alan, but we cannot replicate this on our end. When an image is clicked, it opens up in a new window. Did you add any custom code to the page?
If not, please provide me with temporary wp-admin (Administrator) credentials, and I'll gladly take a look. Just make sure to enable the PRIVATE response, since this is a public ticket.
I experience this problem on both my iPhone and my Windows 11 laptop. I don’t understand why you would see the full size image in front of the detail modal when modals, by default, are always on top. When clicking on a thumbnail, the display of the full size image should also be modal so it displays over top of the detail modal, and I don’t see that happening on my end whatsoever. If you want to see what I’m talking about, go to westsidegsrescue.org, click on Adopt in the menu at the upper right, then click on any row in the wpDataTables table to bring up the detail modal, then click on a thumbnail. If you tell me that the full size image displays on top of the detail modal instead of behind it, then let me know what browser and on what device(s) you made this happen. BTW, if you click on the thumbnail in the table (not the detail modal), the full size image appears on top as expected. Perhaps this is what your team is doing. Be sure to click on the thumbnail in the master detail modal.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.
We tried today on a Windows PC on Chrome and Mozilla on Desktop, and I can confirm we can see some strange behaviour, it is just not what you described.
When we visit your Page and table, the Master Details Modal does not load at all when clicking a row.
Now, if we hit on any row ( any cell other than the thumbnail images column) - this tries to redirect but actually just opens the same page in a new Tab.
If we hit the image thumbnail column, that correctly redirects to a new tab showing the full image, though.
You can download my Video here, if you wish to see this behaviour in more details.

So it seems the Master Details is not behaving on your Page as expected.
Can we please take a remote look how you configured it, how the table's master detail functionality works when we click a row from the Table Back-End, then we can determine if you might have some strange conflict which only happens on Front End Page?
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your website where this happens,
as well as FTP credentials, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue?
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.
You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.
I’m laughing a little because you must have gone out to my website while I was experimenting with master detail table settings and experienced the same things that you just reported. Everything is back to normal now. Also, I need to clarify one thing. Clicking on a thumbnail in the available dogs table results in the correct action…the full size image appears in a new window and is on top and viewable. It’s when you click on a thumbnail in the master detail popup modal that the full size image hides behind the modal. You’ll find several thumbnails on the modal and clicking on any one of those is where you’ll see the hidden full size image. If you and your developers can come up with a fix or a workaround so a user can click a thumbnail on the modal and have the full size image appear on top, that would make my life complete! My suggestion would be to somehow make the full size image modal, too, so it appears on top of the “always on top” detail modal. I’d give you access to my hosting service as requested, but this is a public ticket and I don’t want to display my username and password.
Don't worry about the tables with empty rows. I'm experimenting with tables and have submitted another ticket due to an unexpected issue. I will try some of your suggested solutions for this ticket and get back with the results. BTW, maybe the modal/hidden image issue is due to using Elementor as my page building tool within WordPress? I sure hope not since the entire site is built with Elementor.
It should not be an issue with Elementor since we have the native integration, we can't seem to reproduce it with Elementor on our Test Site, and we do have a lot of other users who use Elementor, too.
Try to isolate if this might be a front-end conflict by additionally testing if the table behaves differently on the back-end version;
If it behaves as it should on back-end, that indicates it might be a front-end conflict with current Theme or another Plugin, so let me know how that goes if you isolate it and we will see if further troubleshooting is needed.
I tried deactivating plugins (there's only two plus yours), no change in the display after clicking on a thumbnail in a popup modal, it hides behind the modal and can't be viewed that way. I even created a completely blank page without Elementor, planted the table and still come up with the same problem. You can now view what happens by going to westsidegsrescue.org, click on Adopt, then click on any row in the table to view the popup modal, then click on a thumbnail. If you can view the image, I just don't know what else to do. Hope you can help!
When I try this new page you made, for some reason, clicking on rows does not respond.
If I click on any cell other than the thumbnail image itself.
If we click on the thumbnail image, though, it loads the image 'in front' of the table, while the rest of the page is 'faded' behind it - which I suppose is what you wish to achieve, only when it is accessed from within the 'master details modal', if I understood - but in that case, that issue happens on your end with the 'opposite effect', so the image gets 'hidden' behind the modal?
As you can see, at this moment when i test again, the Master Detail functionality is not loading on the table.
Not sure if you temporarily disabled it on this table/ or something else might have happened.
Maybe it is best if you can send us the Administrator User credentials, along with FTP details for safe troubleshooting, to avoid further 'back and forth', then we can access a table's back end and do direct testing on our own, if that sounds OK.
Of course, as mentioned, just make sure to send it in a PRIVATE reply, and we can guarantee nobody will be able to see any sensitive details, in this case only we can see the message.

Hello Alan.
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Can you please provide us with screenshots or a video recording so I can forward it to our QA team and see if this is possible?
