In relation to number 3) App Passwords - Google seem to have hidden App Passwords - but these can be found by searching at the top off Google - see attached.
I hope this makes sense and I've saved a few potential headaches for people having this issue.

Customers not recieiving email confirmations.
This isnt a problem but a solution to a recent problem I had.
This was not an email issue but a Google SMTP issue - it appears that the App Password had dissapeared from Google so I had to add it back.
I think it would be beneficial for you to update the articles about setting up SMTP via Google - https://wpamelia.com/notification-settings/ / https://tmsplugins.ticksy.com/article/18058/
