When a customer selects a service I have set it up that they only have to select a location (no need to choose an employee), however, it is possible for a customer to select a date/time without selecting a location....this causes issues. Is there a way to set "Please select a location" as a forced option to choose?
Thanks for reaching out to us. Yes, you need to make sure that the location selection field is set as "mandatory". You can configure this in Customize section / Step by Step v2 / Service Selection / Option
The service selection field is already configured as mandatory, but you can check the employee and location field to be mandatory as optional.
According to my screenshot attached. I have actually set this correctly. So I have two questions: 1. Why is the location field not mandatory if I have set it - please see attached.
2. What does "Filtrate field" do under the employee section because I do not need my customers to choose an employee (that is why the employee input field display is hidden).
You've configured a mandatory field in step-by-step v2, but on your website you have a catalog booking form.
"FIlterable field" means that the a customer can type in and search for a certain service, but since now it's disabled completely, it won't be applied.
Are you saying that I cannot set it to mandatory if it is in catalog view or you saying I need to change my view because catalog view works well for my website.
You can also configure the employee selection as mandatory for a Catalog booking form, but the difference is that the service/employee / location step is the first step on Step by Step booking form v2. If you use the Catalog booking form, you will see both packages and services, but the employee selection field in only available when you already selected the service option. For example, by selecting a service here
The customers would need to select "book now" and this is when they see the employee selection field
You would need to go Catalog booking form and then to "Booking form" (which is essentially Step by Step v2) and you will find the option there
Right from the beginning I mentioned my issue is setting the location to be mandatory and you give instructions for step by step form instead of for catalog form. - as per attached, this IS and ALWAYS was already set as per attached.
"You can also configure the employee selection as mandatory for a Catalog booking form" - I never asked for this and goes opposite to what I have asked NOT to do.
" If you use the Catalog booking form, you will see both packages and services, but the employee selection field in only available when you already selected the service option. " - I have no idea why you are talking about features that have nothing to do with what I asked.
I need the location to be mandatory and it is set to be mandatory but on the website it is NOT mandatory - please see screenshot 3 attached.
Extra note: I have noticed that it is only with the package selections - if someone selects a service the location is mandatory but if they select a package they do not HAVE to select a location (I always need them to select a location)
Apologies for the misunderstanding, but that is exactly what i realized now. You haven't pointed out that this is an option in the package section where you want to make the location field mandatory. I could only see the screenshot from the Customize section. In this case, you need to change to package in Customize settings
Thank you for that but we still have an issue. I found that setting before I saw your response and it seems I have found a bigger problem with this setting.
When you select the location to be mandatory it COMPLETELY disappears ....please see attached.
Now I am really getting upset. MY ENTIRE WEBSITE IS DOWN - NOBODY CAN BOOK ONLINE because you cannot click the "Continue" button because the location has not been selected.
this is incredibly frustrating and you are costing my company money. Can SOMEONE get online and help with this bug? - on confirming ALL settings are correct, i even turn it on/off/on and publish for compulsory for location selection only to have the entire thing stop working.
PLEASE keep in mind....IF NO location is selected (same as service and other settings in Amelia) then ALL locations are applied - I have MANY locations, packages and services....you mean to say every time I add a location, I have to go through EVERY package and add every service to check the location too it?- that is a little crazy - but please confirm
Hi tried this anyway....I even went as far as adding all the employees too (even though we do NOT want customers to select the employee). Please see attached....it is STILL not giving this option to mandatory choose location and the location field and been taken away all together while trying to fix this
The issue with this method is that every time I add a new employee to my system....I would have to add them to every single package I have (that is a lot of clicks)....2ndly, this was not the case before...
Not selecting ANY employee (no employees selected) - should by default select all of them - right? - hope so
Unfortunatelly it will not select all the employees, since if a customer doesn't choose the employee, Amelia will automatically select the next available employee assigned to a service that the appointment is scheduled for. For example, you have a Package A with the service 1 and 2. Employee 1 and 2 are both assigned to Service 1, where Employee 1 is already busy working on a particular timeslot. If a customer doesn't select the employee, Amelia will recognize that there is another empoyeee assigned to this service and it will assign that employee. I hope it makes sense.
I have actually taken out the employee selection section as I do not want the customer to choose an employee. that is more specific for barber shop or salon than treatment centres
I urge you to PLEASE look at this carefully as I have done a test on one of the packages of a single session (package of 1) before I select 45 employees over 45 locations over 45 packages that you see my screenshots and explain to me why STILL the location mandatory field is not displaying when I select the package that has all the employees and locations allocated to it.
- this goes back to what I originally said "if none is selected, by default it used to select them all" - I am not sure why the location field has disappeared.
Just checked on your site with the booking form. For the package "60min sessions", the "location' field is visible and mandatory. Here is the screenshot
No clue, but have you cleared the browser cookies/cache?
I have no idea how you see that because I have cleared my cache, tried it from another browser (IE edge) and still does the exact same thing. Any advice?
Is there any way to higher a professional to anydesk to check this out before I have to check literally hundreds of fields to see if this works when testing on one or two packs it already does not work?
I have refreshed, cleared browser data and tried different browsers and selected all employees and locations for the 1 pack and still the locations field does not show on my end.
I have 45 locations, 45 employees and over 45 packs and you mentioned that the employees need to be selected as well which proved to be incorrect and irrelevant
I AM ACTUALLY VERY UPSET NOW. I HAVE A MASSIVE LAUNCH TO PREPARE AND TIRED OF GOING THROUGH 2 WEEKS OF SETTING CHANGES WHEN THIS WAS ALL WORKING BEFORE. I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY YOUR SCREENSHOT THE FORM IS PURPLE!
ORIGINALLY THE ISSUE WAS THE THE LOCATION FIELD WAS NOT MANDATORY...THROUGH WORKING WITH SUPPORT THE ENTIRE FIELD AND DISAPPEARED MAKING THE SITUATION FROM BAD TO A NIGHTMARE!
I NEED HELP WITH THIS AND CANNOT WASTE ANY MORE TIME. PLEASE ASSIST AS I AM LOOSING MY NERVE ON THIS!
Yet again, we've checked everything in the backend regarding the configuration and we even tested the same configuration on our testing server and it works on both sites. Here is one more time -
I could arrange any desk login, but all of this previously mentioned is already checked on your website. I'm sure that this is related to the caching issues (otherwise I wouldn't be able to see this option enabled on my side) and since you've already tried clearing browser cookies / cache, you can reach out to your hosting and ask them to do a deep cache cleaning. I don't see any other possible issues, but if it still doesn't help, I can involve developers as the last option.
Customers are calling and saying they cannot click "continue" for 2 weeks now. It makes me wish I never contacted support, because at least the field WAS there (just not mandatory)....now no fields showing...even if I make employee mandatory (AND I DONT EVEN NEED THIS).
I completely understand the frustration, but as you can see, I'm doing all the things possible to reproduce the issues, but each time I try to test the same thing, I'm able to see the selection fields. As per my screenshots, the field is visible, so I'm even more confused as to why it doesn't show on your end. Until I double-check the other things, I've noticed that you are on Amelia 7.6.2. Can you update to Amelia 7.7 in the meantime?
I am not sure why you cannot re-create the same error....and I am not sure what it achieves by you simply telling me "I do not know what is wrong" - It is a waste of a response and time. Take this up with your superiors if you do not know how to fix this
That's exactly what's left for me to do. I will forward this video and brief information to developers for further investigation. Perhaps, i missed something, but they will investigate more. I will get back to you with the information as soon as possible.
Much appreciated. It appears to be displaying correctly (regardless if I have locations or employees selected), just as long as I make it as per video (strange).
Just tested again (after a while) and the location selection field is still visible. It's strange indeed, but the developers should investigate this further.
It took a while to test, and we could reproduce the case on your site when we are logged in as admin. If you are logged in already as an admin and you open a new booking form in the same window, Amelia will recognize the login. However, as per the devs, if you test this from the incognito window, the location filter remains on the form whether the employee filter is displaying or not. When you are logged in as employee the form will only show the employee that is logged in and their locations. Since you are trying as admin there are no employees or locations. Can you please try out this way and let us know if it works?
After further research, we have discovered that the issue is coming from the fact that the field is not visible because the custom CSS code has been added. We are not sure what you've tried to achieve with the CSS code, but the one you've used caused the issue.
If you want to use custom code or hide a specific element, please consult us first so we can write the specific code in order to avoid conflict.
Thank you for this feedback. I am not sure how you have access but glad you guys do and could look. I am not sure how or where this code comes from....I will run it by with my team as well.
Are you recommending that I remove it? - because I managed to find it
We did remove it and I had to "tinker" around with the settings. I am now just trying the standard 1st booking form view to see how that works as a UI for end users. I am not sure how that code got there ...it was probably one of my guys when trying to get some setting to work
When a customer selects a service I have set it up that they only have to select a location (no need to choose an employee), however, it is possible for a customer to select a date/time without selecting a location....this causes issues.

I really need you help with this. I have included a video of settings and how the locations field is not showing at all.
My customers will not buy if they do not know where they are booked in at.
Here is a link to the video as well:
or go to www.solido2.co.za/bookings select a pack from choose my one "1 Session (60min) and see for yourself when the form opens
Hi Robert,
Apologies for the delayed answer. Here is a more detailed explanation of how to configure it.
First of all, make sure that the package has employees and location assigned (this should be already configured looking at your screenshots).
I currently have two locations, one of the employees is assigned to "test" the other one is assigned to "test location".
Go to Customize / Step by Step v2, but change to "Package" in the upper left corner
Go to "Booked Appointments Preview" / Options and enable the location mandatory here
Now if you go to the booking form and select a package, you wont be able to continue without selecting the location and employee
Notice the sign next to the employee / location indicating that this is mandatory.
Kind Regards,
Stefan Petrov

Yet again, we've checked everything in the backend regarding the configuration and we even tested the same configuration on our testing server and it works on both sites. Here is one more time -
I'm logged to https://www.solido2.co.za/, package "1 Sessions (60min)", "employees" and "locations" assigned
Customize settings, Location turned on as mandatory.
Open page https://www.solido2.co.za/bookings/ in Incognito mode ( to avoid conflict since I'm already logged in as an admin)
Selecting first package, clicking on Book now
It opens the window with the Location field mandatory
It's the same for the other packages, as well
The page with the booking form is the same as your screenshot, and this has been tested on Chrome.

Hi Robert,
It took a while to test, and we could reproduce the case on your site when we are logged in as admin.

Hi Robert,
After further research, we have discovered that the issue is coming from the fact that the field is not visible because the custom CSS code has been added. We are not sure what you've tried to achieve with the CSS code, but the one you've used caused the issue.
If you want to use custom code or hide a specific element, please consult us first so we can write the specific code in order to avoid conflict.
I hope it helps.
Kind Regards,
Stefan Petrov

Good day Stefan,
Thank you for this feedback. I am not sure how you have access but glad you guys do and could look.
I am not sure how or where this code comes from....I will run it by with my team as well.
Are you recommending that I remove it? - because I managed to find it
Hi Robert,
Yes, the best option would be to remove it since it's creating a conflict. Of course, let us know if it works.
Kind Regards,
Stefan Petrov

Thanks for the update.
We did remove it and I had to "tinker" around with the settings. I am now just trying the standard 1st booking form view to see how that works as a UI for end users.
I am not sure how that code got there ...it was probably one of my guys when trying to get some setting to work
No problem, Robert.
Yes, it was strange because we couldn't replicate the use case on a few machines, so we couldn't identify this as a bug.
Keep me posted, of course.
Kind Regards,
Stefan Petrov
