I am building a website that for testing purposes is hosted locally.
I am using the Amelia Wordpress booking plugin. For testing I emulate a customer filling in the details. In the customers email address I put a valid email address that I have for testing purposes. eg [email protected] when I finish the booking the Customer email does not go to the email address entered in the customer email field : [email protected] but to the site admin email which was not entered anywhere. Is there a reason for this? Added Later to this ticket : I should add the customer did not exist in Amelia's "Customers" list. But then just now I added a dummy customer and the email went to the correct email address this time. So I only have one question : If the customer is not in the Customer list when they book an appointment is it true the email they entered is ignored? And it is also not recorded anywhere, because the email address they enter disappears and is replaced with the administrators email address. SO how can I get in touch with them if I don't require a phone number.
I'm sure there is a simple explanation..thanks!
Added later :
I think I have worked out what's happening. But I don't understand why new customers aren't being added to the customers list. Or the fact I'm using an incognito browser to prevent stupid autofills is a factor. The whole customer new or not doesn't seem to be consistent. But it may be my ignorance. If there is something I can read about the way the step by step appointment booking form works with regard to customers (including new & not in Customers list) that would help
Tks for the response, I'm very grateful indeed. July 2 : The intention of our system is to record and respond to any enquiries entered into the booking form whoever it is. We will not be adding customers to Amelia's customer database because it serves us no purpose. We are a tiny accounting firm with 100 technically challenged customers. As long as whatever is filled into the form 1. gets emailed to the employee, 2. is recorded on the Calendar and 3. an acknowledgment is sent to the enquirer we are good. Likewise once it's approved, rejected or rescheduled - providing the email address is valid, the system again sends the email/s to the employee and enquirer. If the email address is not valid we will sort that out ourselves. thanks!!
To help us address your issue more effectively, could you please clarify what you would like to happen in the following scenario: when a customer who is already registered in Amelia books an appointment, should the system:
Use their existing details without any changes?
Update their existing details with the new information provided during the booking process?
Follow a different process altogether?
Additionally, if the customer is not in the "Customers" list, what would be your preferred way for the system to handle their information? For instance, should it automatically create a new customer entry, or prompt you for further action?
Understanding your preferences will assist us in providing a more tailored and satisfactory solution to your booking needs.
