Yes, that edit is needed when you use a specific external DB Connection configuration;

We had a couple of users who requested us to add this improvement to the Plugin core to avoid having to do this at each update;

At the moment, we have a task for the developers to try to add a native/built-in option for this for the External DB configurations, but I can't say an ETA on it.

If you wish to affect the development speed to add this improvement, you can upvote or add a new suggestion if it already hasn't been created.
