I am currently implementing a WPDataTables plugin into my second site, and I have came across a little problem.
When I have turned on the button option, so my url links appear as a clickable button, it is theoretically working great, but when I try to export my table, I see the name of the button instead of the link in the exported excel or pdf file.
Is there a way to make it display the url link in the exported files, but still keep the button option?
Thank you alot in advance, I really appreciate your help, BTW you created an awesome plugin!
With our Export Table Tools, you can see in the Documentation Page in the section where we point out the current limitations, one of them is that by default, we can not export links or images.
Exporting images and links is not possible at the moment, but you are able to export them as HTML with the new “Include HTML” option.
The “Include HTML” option will allow you to export columns that contain HTML (such as link, image, email, attachment, or HTML).
They will be rendered as HTML in the exported files of the CSV, Excel, Print, and Copy options.
This option is currently not available for the PDF export option.
Please note that you should check this functionality on the front-end since if you use this option in the back-end the buttons in headers will be rendered as HTML as well.
So, later on, if you export a cell which contains HTML in it as a hyperlink looking as a button;
if you import this data in a new Table, you will have to set this Column as "String type", because our URL Columns are 'automatically' writing the Custom HTML in the cell in order to make the HTML link and the button.
I hope that was a clear explanation, but let me know if you try this and if you encounter any issues, or if you have any questions.
I appreciate your help! I can now view the URL links for each button, which is great. However, I've encountered another issue. I'm now seeing everything in HTML code, even for items that aren't buttons. Is there a way to only display the URL of the specific column I'm interested in?
Milos is out of the office by the end of the week, so I'll jump in.
Unfortunately, if you enable the "Include HTML" option, it will export all HTML and there's no way to select specific columns to export with HTML included.
I'll forward it as a suggestion to our developers so they can consider it for one of our future updates.
