Hey there, Awesome Customers!

Just a heads up: We'll be taking a breather to celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1st and 2nd - Wednesday and Thursday) and Orthodox Easter from Good Friday (May 3rd) through Easter Monday (May 6th). So, from May 1st to May 6th, our team will be off enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

During this time, our customer support will be running on a smaller crew, but don't worry! We'll still be around to help with any urgent matters, though it might take us a bit longer than usual to get back to you.

We'll be back in action at full throttle on May 7th (Tuesday), ready to tackle your questions and requests with gusto!

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find loads of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel). These gems might just have the answers you're looking for while we're kicking back.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Catch you on the flip side!

Warm regards,

TMS

Hanging/Loading indefinitely

    I was minding my own business configuring my first table, it was going well until the table preview wouldn't refresh anymore, it looked like the attached image. I went back to check my db connection (I use a different on than the wp one), which worked great when I set it up, just 5 minutes before, just results in a blank page with a loading animation.

    Is there a log file or something that might help me troubleshoot this?  The php error log doesn't show anything.

    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,

    I forgot to ask on the previous ticket, can you confirm are you using the latest 6.3.1 wpDataTables?

    We had a bug on an older version for making Manual Tables on External DB - but the bug got fixed in the later versions, so please double-check that, too.

    1. In regards to the specific Table, can you please open the browser's developer console ( for example, on Chrome, the hotkey is F12) and leave the Network Tab open.

    Then refresh the Table again, and check can you spot an error with red text in the Network Tab in the Browser Console?

    Check if it is perhaps something like error 403, or error 500 or another one.

    If you notice an error 403, click in the "preview" tab of this error, and see if it shows what is hiding behind it.

    This usually happens if the hosting server has a bad permissions configuration;

    or if your Table is using server-side processing, the hosting Firewall could have a 'false positive flag' on our Admin-Ajax call.

    If you can't isolate it, we can try to remote in and try to do this from our end.

    Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.

    We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

    You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.

    And point me to the Table ID, please.

    2. Also, if I understood, your Additional DB Connection was at first testing successfully, but now it seems to be hanging when you hit to test the DB Connection in our Plugin settings.

    Unfortunately, if your Remote DB connection is failing to connect from our Plugin, there is no additional Log from our Plugin which could show more details.

    I will share some 'usual details' which we check when there is any "additional DB" connection issue.

    First, please check if you have the following drivers installed on your WordPress Hosting server, and activated :

    3838527468.png

    These drivers need to be installed and activated on the Hosting server where your WordPress website is.

    After you install and activate those drivers, it should work fine.

    If you're not sure how to install the drivers, please reach out to your hosting provider.

    The external DB server to which wpDataTables is connecting has its own method of establishing the connection, and we're using PHPs logic of connecting to separate connections.

    -

    Then, when you have these installed, you need to contact the support of your remote server and ask them for instructions and details what is needed to be input in order to connect,

    such as connection name, host, port, user, password, etc;

    ( You most probably already did all this, because if the test was successful at first, that would make sense, so my apologies if that was unnecessary details)

    In the end, try to Test the DB Connection in our Plugin again, and see if you get any errors.

    -

    If there are errors your server returns, those are returned by the server,

    and only displayed by wpDataTables -

     there is no additional log within wpDataTables that would distinctively show you what's behind the error.

    I hope this helps.

    We will still do our best to try to advise what you can do, so if you see any error in our Plugin's Connection Test, can you send me a screenshot and copy the error message, then we can see if we had experience with that particular error from other users?

    And if you can confirm what is the "Vendor"/Database connection type, is it MySQL, MS SQL or Postgre SQL?

    If you can't get any error to appear, but it just 'hangs' as you said, try to keep the Network Tab open in the Browser's Developer Console and see if you can spot any error there during this process?

    Can you also send me a screenshot how your System Info looks from our Plugin's Dashboard/System info tab; which PHP version, WP Version you have on the WP Hosting server;

    how much PHP Memory is allowed, what is the PHP TimeOut limit, etc, maybe that can help, too.

    3. Lastly, can you check if it is the same issue as it was before by removing any Additional DB Connection, then try to hit "Save Changes" and see if you can at least create, let's say, a Manual Table on your 'default' WP Database connection, does the table get created, and see when you refresh it for a couple of minutes, does it hang and throw any error when it is created on the local WP DB?
