We want to change our booking system from salonbookingsystem.com to Amelia. I took a closer look at the Pro version and looked for a specific option that we have in our current booking system. Either I haven't found an option or Amelia doesn't have it. So it's better to ask:
It's about the idle or break times within a longer service, such as hair coloring. Hair coloring is recorded as taking a total of 150 minutes. However, 60 minutes of this is a waiting time (the color has to take effect), during which the employee can, for example, cut another customer's hair.
With Salonbooking you could set up a service break and determine from when to when it runs. This makes it possible to determine the dates very precisely. In my example: Applying the hair color takes 30 minutes. Afterwards, 60 minutes (service break) are available for another customer. After these 60 minutes, the service break is over and the "interrupted" service continues. These free spaces are then also available in the booking system as bookable times.
EVERY hairdresser is in the same situation. This means that this function is essential for a hair salon. I'd be surprised if Amelia didn't think of that.
Thank you very much for a soon answer - we want to go online with a new booking system within the next two weeks. And as we like Amelia much, we would prefer to use it. But the above function is so important that it must be possible.
While Amelia may not offer a direct feature for incorporating idle or break times within services, you can still manage this effectively by utilizing its flexibility in service customization. One workaround involves treating "hair coloring" as a service extra within Amelia's framework. By adding "hair coloring" as a service extra, you can essentially create a supplementary component to the main service, allowing for greater granularity in scheduling and time management.
To implement this workaround, you would first define "hair coloring" as a service extra within the Amelia system. This entails configuring it as an additional option that clients can select when booking their appointments. Once added, you can then set a duration for this specific extra, effectively encompassing not only the actual hair coloring process but also any accompanying wait or idle times that may be required during the service.
The key aspect here is to adjust the duration of the "hair coloring" extra to reflect the total time needed for the entire service, including any periods of inactivity. For instance, if the hair coloring process typically takes 30 minutes, but there's an additional 60-minute waiting period during which the color sets, you would set the duration of the "hair coloring" extra to 90 minutes to cover the entire duration comprehensively.
