Hi there! I like to include emoji in my notifications (both the subject and the body) and service names. But I get errors when trying to save if I include them.
For example, my service couldn't save with this in the name: 🌿
And my notification can't save with this as the subject: "How delightful to see you today 🦋"
This is part of my branding. Please add support for this, or let me know what I can configure to let this happen.
If you copy/paste the emoji from the website, Amelia will not let you save the emoji because of the invalid string value.
The workaround is to use the HTML version of emojis that can be found on this link.
In the notifications template, switch to HTML mode, and then just copy/paste the value from the list according to the emoji that you want to use. In that way, Amelia will save the emoji and the notifications will read the emoji. Also, please note that you only need to save in one more, if you add the changes in HTML mode and save in Text Mode, changes will be lost.
Thank you Stefan! It makes sense to me that that would work for the body of the notification, what about the subject? Is there a way to get emoji in the subject line?
Do you mind helping me understand why emoji aren't supported in the strings? Are you not storing the strings in the database with utf-8 encoding?
Unfortunately, for the subject line, you may only use the "classic" emojis like this one
Currently, Amelia doesn't recognize all strings and you won't be able to save if you add the emojis in text mode, so the workaround for now is to use the HTML mode. We are already working on improving this in future updates. There is no ETA at this moment, but you can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like, where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.
