4. After that open the program and open the file from the extracted folder on your computer ameliabooking/languages/fr_FR/wpamelia-fr_FR.po.
5. Translate all the strings that are not translated
6. Save the translation.
7. Go to ameliabooking/languages/fr_FR/ folder and copy these two files called wpamelia-fr_FR.po and wpamelia-fr_FR.mo back to your website in the location ../wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/languages/fr_FR/.
This is an example of the French language, but you will choose yours.
Hope this helps If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks for your explanations. I know how this works. But there is already a very comprehensive file wpamelia-de_DE, 12000 lines of translations. But on the site NOTHING appears translated. I don't expect this to change by editing those files. There must be something wrong with the plugin or the settings.
Thank you for the update on this and for your patience.
The translation of the "days and months" on the Calendar for the Appointment time slots is based on a 3rd Party library,
which will automatically translate if you have the correct language locale set up on the WordPress page.
We have most languages covered - but in some rare situations, we find a new language that is still not added to this library.
In that case, our developers build the new language and add it during an update.
-
We will elaborate more on how it works :
For example, let's say we wanted to translate the day labels of the Calendar above Time slots to French.
If i change my site language to French, Amelia automatically "triggers the translated library" for the months and days in the Calendar to French :
Here is how it looks if i leave WordPress language in General WordPress settings as English
-
And now, if i change WordPress language to French :
-
If you just need one language, set it as the WordPress default language in General settings and this should work.
If you need a multilingual site with Amelia, you will have to set up different page versions for each language you need with the help of a multilingual plugin.
This site is not multilanguage. Everything is set to German. The German language files for Amelia are installed, and I see all of the translations in there. It is not a rare situation, German language is fully covered.
The only words that I find translated in the output of Amelia are month and day names in the calendar. I understand now that this is because of a 3rd Party library.
But why is nothing else translated in spite of all the translations being available in the files, and everything being set to German?
I have gotten a bit further now. Now I switched from the correct variety of German to one of the wrong ones, and now there are actually many more things translated. So there is one problem with Amelia: It uses the available file for German only for one of the variants instead of all of them. The variants are hardly different, so any of them is better than nothing.
I can just change the file name, and it will probably work. Would be nice if that wasn't necessary.
Now I still found many missing or bad translations and fixed those. Machine translation, maybe something you might want to look into?
Thank you for the update on this and for your patience.
Please check the following explanation, especially the bolder part:
Please note that we do not have translators in our company, so all translated languages Amelia has have been translated by our customers. If you find any inconsistencies with the translation, please feel free to correct them using POEdit, or Loco Translate, open a ticket and send us the corrected translation, so we can add it to the plugin.
At the moment we have Spanish, German, Dutch, Russian, Romanian, French, Finnish, Italian, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese, Greek, Arabic, Slovak, Hungarian, Danish, Belgian, Japanese, Polish, Hebrew, and Chinese translation. Approximately 90-95% of the plugin is translated into the languages stated above.
To apply any of these languages, all you need to do is go to WordPress' General settings and set the site language to your language.
Please note that the languages mentioned above work only for certain locales. For example, we have Spanish (Spain) translation, which is saved with es_ES locale, but if you set your site language to be Spanish (Mexico), Amelia will not pick up the translation, since the locale is es_MX.
The solution here would be to either change WordPress' language from Spanish (Mexico) to Spanish (Spain), or access ../wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/languages/ folder, and to copy the "es_ES" folder. Paste it in the same path (ameliabooking/languages) and rename the folder to "es_MX". Then, access the folder, and rename the two files from "ameliabooking-es_ES.po" and "ameliabooking-es_ES.mo" to "ameliabooking-es_MX.po" and "ameliabooking-es_MX.mo".
Hi,
I have switched everything to German, but in the backend, the plugin still appears in English. I followed this article: https://wpamelia.com/multilingual-support/
... to no avail. What else do I need to do to have the plugin appear in German?
Thank you!
Ralf

Hi Uros,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I created a temporary login for you, valid one week:

I hope that works for you. Meanwhile I found the problem is also with the frontend. Only English.
Thank you!

Hello Ralf,
Thank you for the update on this and for your patience.
Words can be changed using POEDIT or Loco Translate for example very easily. I suggest you install Loco Translate and then translate these strings.
If you want to use POEDIT then this is an instruction:
1. Download the Amelia plugin from CodeCanyon and save the .zip file on your computer.
2. Unzip the downloaded .zip file.
3. You need to download and install POEDIT.
