Hey there, Awesome Customers!

Just a heads up: We'll be taking a breather to celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1st and 2nd - Wednesday and Thursday) and Orthodox Easter from Good Friday (May 3rd) through Easter Monday (May 6th). So, from May 1st to May 6th, our team will be off enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

During this time, our customer support will be running on a smaller crew, but don't worry! We'll still be around to help with any urgent matters, though it might take us a bit longer than usual to get back to you.

We'll be back in action at full throttle on May 7th (Tuesday), ready to tackle your questions and requests with gusto!

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find loads of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel). These gems might just have the answers you're looking for while we're kicking back.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Catch you on the flip side!

Warm regards,

TMS

    What is the easiest way to get the new standard columns into an old manual WPDataTable? Is it possible to copy an old table to get the new feature?

    Hi Stephan,

    Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

    I am sorry to disappoint you, but there is no way to somehow add these new column types such as "wdt_created_by"/ created at, last edited by, and last edited at  to old Tables made before the Update.

    These new Column types can only be added for new Manual Tables going forward, because our developers created custom logic for them;

    it only works when making a new Manual Table to generate them and then they automatically pre-populate the data for each row.

    We will try to create some solution that could somehow 'implement' these new Column types to the old Manual Tables, which were created before this Update, but I can't promise it.

    If we create any kind of a workaround for that, I will make sure to contact you here on the Ticket and on your Email.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Stephan,

    I have an update on this subject.

    There is a way if you wish to copy the data from your old Manual Table and insert it into a new Manual Table and you can get all these new Columns working.

    I just made a Test, for example if I have a table like this, which is a new Manual Table.

    It has all the premade column types exclusive for our Manual Tables such as wdt_ID ( unique auto increment row ID) and all the new fields :

    7646827380.png

    If you wish to export the data from your old Manual Table via our Table Tools, you can try a CSV or Excel Export;

    Then use the exported Sheet to insert the Data in the new Manual table.

    It just depends which option you wish to pick for the 'import/update' option;

    If you wish to replace all rows - or just add new rows from the old Table;

    or to completely replace source Data.

    -

    If you pick the first two options - just make sure to remove the wdt_ID Column from the Sheet which you will use to update the Table;

    because this Table already has its own 'wdt_ID' to count each row as auto-increment.

    So just add these Columns which have relevant data and it will work ( the Manual table will automatically assign each row ID) :

    If you try the first two options, to Add new rows  or to Replace existing Rows;

    make sure you have the same number of Columns and same Header Names on the Sheet (while excluding the wdt_ID Field).

    Or if you pick Replace the entire table with source - in this case, you can make any Column structure and there will be no error.

    You can see more about updating existing Manual Tables from Sheets in this Documentation.

    Let me know if that could help, at least to get the Data from the old Manual Table(s) in new Tables.

    The only thing to note - When you do this, logged as an Admin - all these rows you inserted, they will all insert your Admin name/username, and the date and time;

    since you were the one who did this action;

    but it is going to start recording for each User who edits the Table going forward.

    ( Who edited an existing row, when it happened and who made a new row and when it happened);

    Kind Regards,

    Thank you! That was a good explanation!

    I think there is an other way: Export the old tabe to Excel, and then build a new table with "Create a data table by importing data from a data source"
