    Good day,

I have pasted the default information that is available on your youtubes and wpamelia.com website so there is no forwarding of the information I am well aware of...

I am trying to confirm these points to get this to work as i dont see the option for the customer (I want customers to be able to choose to pay at checkout or via payment link that would be emailed):

    1.  I have added the %payment_link_woocommerce% payment link to the "Appointment Pending" email notification (as i am unaware of where else you would add this because obviously it is not approved yet).
    2. If we set the default appointment status to "Pending" - does this mean the customer can still pay through the website and simply has the option to pay via payment link that would be emailed if they do not pay through the website checkout?
    3. I have done the below on a particular service and added the link as per point above and do not see any difference in the form view or payment checkout for this option to work.

    *  There really needs to be a step by step youtube on this as the instructions below do not help without real examples.

This option allows your customers to pay via email notifications or through their Customer Panel, by enabling the option “Allow payment via Payment Link”.

If you choose to allow customers to pay through email, for this option to work you need to add new payment link placeholders to the message templates. To view a detailed list of the placeholders that you can use please follow this link

Also, you can set a URL where customers will be redirected once the payment from the link is processed, by using the option “Redirect URL after Payment”. By default, this will be set to your main site URL, but you can change it according to your requirements.

If your default status is set to “Pending” you can use the option “Update Appointment Status” which will automatically change the appointment/event status to “Approved” after the payment from the link is processed.

    Hello again,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We aren't sure exactly what you are asking us but we will try to help as best as we can.

So yes you can use payment link placeholder and paste it to pending notifications.

Then you can enable option Update booking status automatically when you edit service settings

But to be able to use payment from link customers must first pay a deposit and then they can get the link to pay the rest of the amount from the link.

    Hope this explains it.

    Kind Regards,

I think I understand the limitation here...

I was under the impression that a customer could either pay a deposit OR book and receive a payment link for a booking that is pending (awaiting the deposit payment - on paying the DEPOSIT with the payment link the pending booking would be approved).

Please let me know if there is a way to set it up like this...otherwise, I am not understanding why you would include a payment link other than for full payments and if for full payments...customers would simply just complete the payment while on the site.  Hence, if you are going to include a payment link...it would be better suited for clients that reserve a booking and then receive an email to pay the deposit

    Hello again,

Perhaps I did not explain well the first time and if this is the case I do apologize. Let me try again

    1. So if you are using only online payments such as Stripe and PayPal then customers must pay the deposit so that they can get the payment link so that they can pay for an appointment later

    2. If you enable option on site for payments then customers do not have to pay a deposit and they can book without a deposit and then they will get the payment link in notifications

Hope this explains it better and that it helps.

I understand.  However, if I had to set option 2, the payment link is still for the full amount instead of a deposit amount.

Perhaps there would be some clarity between us if we understood the following:

    1.  Why do you have a pay a deposit feature? - why would someone even set this option?

Note:  If clients could set a booking, get notified of all site details and my sites can contact the client directly, there is a massive risk of all clients being contacted by my sites saying "dont bother paying the deposit, just pay us when you come in" and I loose a deposit fee.

    Hello again,

    1. I understand.  However, if I had to set option 2, the payment link is still for the full amount instead of a deposit amount. - Yes, it the option is on site then they do not need to pay deposit and they can pay the whole amount. If you use online payments then they can pay deposit.

If there is no online payment they do not have the possibility to pay deposit upfront this is not physically possible.

    2.  Why do you have a pay a deposit feature? - why would someone even set this option? - We have this option because a very large number of our users want to ask for a deposit up front but if you do not want to offer deposit you can turn it off when you edit service

    3. We apologize, but we do not understand what the issue is here.

Do you want a deposit or not? In any case, there is no issue. You have the possibility to choose whether you will ask for a deposit or not.

If you enable it, you have to use some online method because it is physically impossible to pay your deposit otherwise. Through onsite payment, they cannot pay you a deposit, but only the full amount.

You are now mentioning losing your deposit, but that will not happen if you turn on the deposit option and enable one of the online payment methods.

That way, the customer has to pay the deposit and they will get a link through which they can pay the rest of the amount, and if they doesn't pay, you keep the deposit.

We have explained how it works and I'm afraid honestly that we don't understand where the issue is here.

    Looking forward to your reply.

I think you miss understood.  I will try simplify.

I want the client to be able to pay a deposit via a payment link that is emailed or whatsapped to them.  On them paying the deposit via the link instead of the standard gateway the booking changes from pending to approved.

    Hello again,

Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, currently, this feature is not built-in in Amelia. You can not send them link to pay the deposit. This does not work like that. You can either set that they pay deposit and then the rest of the amount via link or to send them a link and they can pay the full amount. This is how it is designed to work.
