When someone books an appointment with me, I am not receiving any confirmation about the booking. It used to work, and then suddenly stopped sending confirmations. The person making the appointment does receive confirmation, but I do not get an email or text message. I have no idea when or who is making bookings and it is costing my business and reputation.
Are you using the SMTP protocol for mail settings? We recommend using these settings since emails that are sent using the WP mail settings are usually flagged as spam.
Is the notifications template for employees turned on?
You are welcome. In the notifications section, you will see a bunch of templates for both employees and the customer. If the notifications are working properly, then these notifications are sent according to the booking status (if booked, pending, canceled)
First of all, we recommend configuring the SMTP settings for mail settings in Amelia, by following the instructions on this link. Yes, you would need to have the Google or Microsoft STMP with the credentials.
Also, by default, only the employee and the customer are the ones who receive the booking email, so, unless if you configured your email as the employee email, you won't be able to receive the emails. The workaround would be to place your email in the field "Send all notifications to additional addresses" and you will receive all the emails.
I have attempted to follow the directions and update to STMP.
When I send a test email, it says unable to send.
I give you full permission to access my dashboard and give you my passwords if you are able to configure the appointment settings to send me notifications of bookings.
Right now, when someone books, I am not getting any notifications.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.
You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Thanks for the credentials. I can see that there is an error in the console when sending a test email
This indicates that the SMTP settings are not correct or there is a problem with the hosting provider. Please, double-check your settings and contact the hosting provider to see if something is blocking the access from their side.
We only recommend using the WP mail in combination with third-party plugins for SMTP. Otherwise, we recommend using the SMTP settings as the primary mail settings, since mails sent with PHP or WP mail are usually flagged as spam and sometimes they are sent, sometimes not.
Please, double check with the host regarding the SMTP settings and let me know if it works.
Sure, you can configure the text messages, instead of emails. By default, the notification templates are turned on, but you can disable them and configure the SMS service. You can find more information on this link.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to change the phone number, since this is already configured by our SMS provider, it's US-based. So, each time the SMS notifications are sent, there is no option to reply back. It's just a notification, and it's usually used for "next-day appointment reminders" and etc.
You need to create a new SMS account first, as per our instructions. It's a pretty simple process, once you create the SMS account, you will be able to configure the SMS template and etc.
Also, you still might have issues with sending them since you have WP mail configured. Most of these integrations are based on SMTP settings, so it's advisable to use SMTP.
I set up the SMS account and can send and receive test emails. However, I still do not receive a confirmation when someone books an event. I want them to receive an SMS and I also want to receive an SMS.
How do I set it up so both the customer and employee receive the notification?
Also, is there a way to receive a notification that an appointment has been added to my calendar?
In order to receive notifications when someone books either a service or event, you have to enter your email in the field "Send all SMS messages to additional numbers" in the Notifications settings. Since, by default, only customers and employees are receiving the notifications, you as an admin, need to enter your email here. Please note that you will receive all the notifications, not just the SMS.
There is still WP mail used for mail settings, as stated before, it's recommended to use SMTP settings since WP mail settings are only recommended when used in combination with third-party SMTP.
The notification that an appointment is added to your calendar can be only received if you enter your email as an employee email, otherwise, you will receive all notifications as an admin.
Great, thanks for the feedback. Well, this works exactly as the notifications system for regular emails. So, if you go to Notifications, and select SMS notifications, you will find the templates for both employees and customers.
You can add the placeholders here that will read the information that are going to be sent to both customer and employee
You can find more placeholders by clicking on "show SMS Placeholders" and you need to paste them in the template. Feel free to test, it should be working properly.

Thank you Stefan,
Where can I update the notifications for employees?
Also, when I change the notifications to SMTP, it asks for the SMTP Port:
I am new to web-design and don't know what that means.
Also, do I need to create a password and username for this, or should I already have them?

Thanks Stefan, I understand STMP is the preferred method.
What if the customer and I were just sent a text message instead of email?
Can I have my appointments confirmed through SMS?
I would to use the SMS 360-223-9863 and 360-389-2205
Hopefully this works easier so I don't have to keep bugging you and my server host.
Here is my WP log in info:

Thank You Stefan,
That worked great. Now I get bookings on my phone and they show up on the calendar.
Thanks for your help working through all of this.
I appreciate it.
Here's the first.
Thanks again.

Good Afternoon Stefan,
The SMS notification works great for appointments.
However, there are a couple of things I would like to add when I receive a booking.
I would like to know the name, phone number and email of the person that made the booking.
I would also like to know how much was paid and the number of bikes they reserved.
What text or code do I need to add for these to appear in my SMS confirmations?
Thank you,
Matt
