Yes, that is the correct way how to reference a Column placeholder, as the percentage symbols and the 'origin Header name' , on a Custom WP Page.
But now you need to set up these two options, in your back-end of the Table, in the Master-Detail settings, set the 'Show details in' as "Page";
And then choose which WP Page will be used as the 'Template page'.
You can check our Table Back-end here on our Master Detail Demo Site, how we configured Table ID 6 "Car description" and see how it renders the Column placeholder values on our Page.
You can see on this Documentation an example how we configured this Template Page.
Let me know if that helps and if you require any assistance.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

I can see what the issue is.
Basically, when you create your Template Page for our Master-Details Add-on, you will not be able to just directly visit this page and to see any Column data render.
if you visit this custom page directly, placeholders will be replaced with empty strings, so data will be populated only when you access this page from our table by clicking on Row or Button depending on your configuration.
Can you please test, does it work to render the row data - when you click through the Table on some Row?
If you still can't figure out how this should work and if your Table's data behaves as expected, i can take a remote look.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

I think I am doing this correct
this is what I added to the page
%masterdetail%
%first_name%
%last_name%
I am sure if I have to this at a normal page or do it in another section
