Hey everyone!

With the holiday season upon us, we want to share our upcoming working hours:

After that, we’ll return to our regular schedule and assist you as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find tons of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel), which might just have the answers you need while we’re away.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Warm regards and happy holidays!

wp_wpdatatables_rows row creation

    Does exactly 1 row get inserted immediately within the wp_wpdatatables_rows table when I click on "save" when creating a wpdatatable in the interface?  Also, does that store all of the data within the 1 column appropriately named "data" in a json format?

    If so, what are the limits then of the google sheet data that can be linked here?

    Hi Frank,

    Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

    When it comes to data from Google Spreadsheets, i just made a Test by creating this new Google Sheet with 10 rows and some dummy Columns, the same as example from our Documentation;

    6748629618.png

    I got these 5 Columns and 10 rows of data, when i make a new Table linked to the google Sheet, as far as i can see, this does not add any rows in the wp_wpdatatables_rows  Table;

    But instead, it seems to just store the google Sheet URL in the wp_wpdatatables in the "content" Column along with the new Table ID, in my case 86.

    In the wp_wpdatatables_rows   the last Table ID i see is 75, which is a Simple Table type.

    In the wp_wpdatatables_columns, it stores all the Column details for the Table , such as Column Origin Header, Displayed Header, filter type, Data Type, etc :

    Now, when i enable our Cache feature on this new Google Sheet linked Table, i notice it appears in the wp_wpdatatables_cache  Table, and the entire Data of the Table Cells in the JSON Format in the "data" Column :

    I will double-check with our QA Team and the developers, but i believe these are all the relevant details when it comes to how a Google Sheet linked Table data gets stored;

    If they provide any additional detail i will share them with you,

    or if you have any additional question about that, let me know.

    - Can you please clarify what you mean by this? Sorry, i did not understand that question.

    If you meant to ask if there is a limit how many Columns and rows your Sheet can have, to be linked;

    There is no limit in our Plugin, but there will be a limit on your Hosting Server and WordPress.

    If you don't set more than around 6000 rows, you should be OK.

    If you activate our Cache and Auto Update Cache feature, you will have good performance for Tables up to 5, 6 thousand rows;

    But if you go over that number of rows - Then you might experience slow load.

    If that happens, you would need to switch to importing this Data in a Manual ( SQL based) Table to use our server-side ( Lazy Load) processing.

    Hi Frank,

    We got confirmation from our QA Team about this.

    They basically confirmed what i checked.

    So, in regards to the actual cell data, our Plugin does not save that anywhere, it just provides it from the Link of the Spreadsheet in our Table.

    Unless if you activate the "Cache" option in our Table - in that case, it does store the cached version as JSON format in the wp_wpdatatables_cache  Table.

    More details are in my previous reply, but that is a short summary of the main question you asked, in terms of where are the actual rows/cells saved.

    Thank you.
