Hey everyone!
With the holiday season upon us, we want to share our upcoming working hours:
- New Year: Our team will be off on January 1st and 2nd. We’ll be back on Friday, January 3rd, to respond to any messages received during this time.
- Weekend: As usual, we don’t work on weekends, so January 4th and 5th will also be non-working days.
- Orthodox Christmas: Our office will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, January 6th and 7th for the holiday.
After that, we’ll return to our regular schedule and assist you as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find tons of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel), which might just have the answers you need while we’re away.
Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!
Warm regards and happy holidays!

I did another test.
I compared database values from original chart and duplicated chart and range values in database are identical.
What is confusing that after you open Range Picker in original or duplicated chart, not all values/cells are checked.
For example, in my case when I create a chart it has checked cells like this: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/21662245?key=86f3828ea3f46f4bfeeac3330842f8d6
When I open this chart again, it looks like this:
The same goes for original or duplicated charts.
Top row are labels (string).
Additionally sometimes in duplicated chart wrong IDs (WDT_ID column) are checked.
The problem is that my customer, who is creating charts is freaked out as she thinks, that all data is wrong and we have a lot of charts (currently around 300 and many more to come).
Hi Elvis,
To begin, I want to extend my heartfelt apologies for the delayed reply,
which is due to an unexpectedly high volume of inquiries.
We truly value your patience during this period.
-
I see what you mean, looking from the screenshot+Video+ and your description of the situation, it might be a new possible bug, we will need to conduct some testing to try and reproduce this on our end.
We can't seem to reproduce it, but maybe we need to use more similar Data structure as you have, as well as you mentioned that you use some Formulas, we are not 100% sure if that might have an effect on the behaviour.
So it's best if you could make a separate Staging Site where we can take a closer look how you setup the Table and the Chart so we can try to recreate the same setup for new testing.
Would you be able to provide us with a staging site,
along with WP-admin (Administrator) user,
FTP credentials ,
and the database access ( URL with credentials for PHPMyAdmin or access to Hosting Panel), so our developers can debug the plugin, and see what's going on?
You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović

Hi Elvis,
And i just forgot to say, if you can also confirm the original Chart ID, so we know where to focus on the Staging. Thank you.

Hi Elvis,
First i wish to thank you sincerely for all your patience and cooperation, i realise this is taking much longer than expected.
1. We can access the WP-Admin now, thank you for that.
We might have a bug for the Range Picker after duplication of Charts, as you pointed out, but can't confirm it yet, we are still doing tests with our QA Team by looking at your data and trying to reproduce the same behaviour on our Test Sites.
As soon as it is confirmed if it is an isolated issue or a bug, we will report back again.
I will let you know if we require further details or access to your data during this process.
-
2. Just to comment additionally on what you mentioned in regards to moving with steps backwards in the Chart Wizard :
Also worth mentioning is that if you open an existing chart, move forward and then go back to step 1 (Create a Chart), chart type is no more selected, which I also consider as a bug.
Yes, we do have some issues in general when going forward with Chart Wizard, then trying to go one or more steps back.
Our QA Team is aware of that - The developers are working to fix that, we can't say an ETA on it, but please keep a lookout on our wpDataTables changeLog.
It will be stated there during updates which bug fixes have been implemented at each update.
-
For the time being, whenever we need to go a step back in the Chart Wizard, whether it is making a new Chart or editing existing Charts, it is best if you can refresh it or manually go back in the first step completely, then to just go forward with the steps and save the Chart;
Then if you need to make a change again, to go back from the first Step - but not back with the "previous" button - rather to hit "Save Chart", and then to refresh it to go from the start;
I know that is very inconvenient in some situations, so we will do our best to fix it as soon as possible.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović

Hi Elvis,
Once again my sincerest apologies that this took so long.
I did a lot of testing, and it seems this is a bug, I reproduced the same issue on my LocalHost WordPress with latest 5.8.2 wpDataTables as well as on our Sandbox Demo Site.
It does memorize my row selection in the Range Picker, if i open the Original Chart or Duplicated one, in the Chart Wizard - But it does not memorize the selected Column in the Range Picker.
You tested on your Site with server-side/Manual Table, and on my end, i reproduced it on non-server Side Table, as well, so it seems this bug affects all table types at the moment.
I recorded the last part of my testing, just to have it for our QA Team as a sample :
https://we.tl/t-2rLRzXfZfT
Our developers isolated the bug, and they'll add it to their queue for fixing.
They will do their best to build a fix as soon as possible.
We don't have an ETA on when the fix will be available, but please keep a lookout on our wpDataTables changeLog.
It will be stated there during updates which bug fixes have been implemented at each update.
If they finish the fix in between Updates, i will make sure to send it to you right away.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović

Hi Elvis,
You're welcome.
Thank you for reporting this and for the explanations with details how to reproduce it, it saved time for our QA Team so we were able to replicate it right away with our own Data and Test Site.
As mentioned, our developers will do their best to debug this as soon as possible;
It should be fixed in one of the upcoming Updates, or if they build a fix in between, we will share it with you directly.
No problem, we will not be needing the access for this particular bug.
Thanks again.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović

Hi Elvis,
We did further testing with our QA Team and came to a conclusion.
I apologise, this is actually not a bug, it is the current default/normal behaviour.
For a Pie Chart, it only takes one String/Date Type Column as the first selected one, to provide the labels, while the second column is Numeric, to provide the "slices/series" for the Pie.
So for the Chart, it is only important it memorizes which rows were selected in the Range Picker, while the chosen Columns will stay the right ones, as they are set up in the Wizard.
In your case, and on our testing, we can confirm that it does correctly save all the selected rows for the Range Picker in the Pie Chart - and it loads all the correct Data as expected if we duplicate the Chart as well.
So we are not able to find any issue/ or unexpected behaviour regarding these points in the end.
I just apologise once again for my mistake, it did seem to me it was a bug - but that is the default behaviour.
2. Only in regards to going "step backwards" in the Wizard - for that we will work to fix it;
At the moment, the safest way is to refresh the Chart and start from the first step if any changes need to be made.
But for the main/first point we covered about selecting a Column for Pie Charts - since only one Numeric Column is there for the series, and one as String/Date, then only the row selection is important, all the data will remain the same.
-
Let us know if you notice anything else that we should check, or if we perhaps somehow misunderstood any of the details you described.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović
