Inconsistencies with front end display of table data

    Hi,

I am encountering challenges on a database created using wpDataTables

    1. The drop down menus need one to type in for the menu to show available options on the frontend, further no dropdown functionality is available on a mobile device such as a cellphone or tablet

    2. To try overcome the non availability of the dropdown option on mobile devices, I have used the Forminator integration plugin, however, the tables created with Forminator do not allow editing or creation of another record from within wpDataTables.

    3. The functionality to add visibility conditions and rules are not available on wpDataTables

Assistance with the above would be appreciated.

    Hi Geraldine,

    1. In regards to the dropdowns issue,

i am not sure if i understood what you mean by this.

    -

Did you add some column filters as a selectbox,  and are they working on back-end,

but on the front-end, when you click in a filter dropdown, it does not work?

If that is the case, please find this option and disable it, in main Plugin settings/Include full bootstrap front-end and it should help.

If you mean some other dropdowns, like menus etc,

do you mean the options of table setup from the back-end such as "Data Source" ,  "Display settings", and similar?

    4431353483.png

    If you mean that,

sorry to disappoint you, but changing these table settings are only available for the back-end.

If you can just elaborate and clarify this point to ensure i understood?

It will be best if you can record a Video of your screen to show me exactly what menus and dropdowns are not working.

If the Video shows any sensitive Data, please send the message as PRIVATE for security reasons, then only we can see it.

If you can't record a Video, please send me some screenshots of the issue.

    -

    2. The dropdown options for mobile devices :

If you can please also show me more details of this issue,

so that we can see the behaviour and we can advise.

Do they appear on the table back-end, and on desktop front-end,

but just not for mobile screens?

     3. The functionality to add visibility conditions and rules are not available on wpDataTables

I am sorry, but for this point i am also not sure what you are referring to.

If you can show me what is the Table type,

because for example if you use a Simple Table,

it has a lot of limitations when compared to other dataTable types.

    As we pointed out here,

Simple Tables do have some unique features such as Merge Cells,

but on the other hand they have these limitations :

When working with this table type please note:

    • These simple datatables are not saved in the database like manual tables, but instead, their data is stored in database table wp_wpdatatables_rows. So, pulling data from the database is a bit more complex because this database table stores data in JSON format, not like manual tables (columns * rows).
    • There is no front-end editing, sorting, searching, filtering, exporting, or pagination in this table type.
    • Creating charts from this table type is not yet possible.
    • You can’t use foreign keys, placeholders, or conditional formatting, but each cell can be formatted separately.
    • Setting border types and thickness is not included.
    • Add-ons can’t be used with Simple data tables.

    -

Let me know if that might be the case.

If you are using a Simple Table ,

then please try a Manual Table, and you will see it has all the other options,

such as different Responsiveness Feature where you can collapse columns on mobile,

    and Conditional Formatting etc.

    Kind Regards,

    1. I have disabled the Include full bootstrap front-end setting, however the dropdown options are still not available on a mobile device on the front end. See attached pictures of the drop downs that I created. Further the drop down I refer to are from a created field type  / column dropdown or rather select box option. These appear on the front end and back end as per attached screenshots for computer access, however not for mobile access.

    2.  The form type is a manual form as the other form types do not allow for editing

    3. On functionality to add visibility conditions and rules are not available on wpDataTables query refers to the ability to hide the visibility of the next column based on the value of another column.

For example my table has gender selectbox with Male and Female as possible options on the dropdown, then possible column of opportunities that should become visible if one entry is Female. Currently the options available only cater to row colouring if a condition is met.

    4. Further the table seems to have a maximum number of columns allowed on it as I am failing to continue to add additional columns after a certain number with the plugin not giving me an opportunity to set a new maximum number of columns.

    5. The formulae is only limited to maths operators on integer values, functionality is required for calculations based on other table entries e.g. calculation of Age based on the date of birth entered and the current date

    6. Lastly the use of Forminator integration to create a table means that the table source has to be a simple table or Excel which does not allow for editing and importing of table entries, which is limited to Manual tables

    Hi Geraldine,

Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

    -

Thank you for these clarifications on each point/each issue you found,

we will do our best to focus on all of them as quickly as possible,

but can you please separate each subject/issue on a separate ticket, and make new tickets for points 2, 3, 4 , 5 and 6,

then if we need to get our QA Team or developers involved, it will be impossible for them to read everything on same ticket.

When you have multiple questions or issues which are for different subjects/topics,

please open a new ticket for each subject, and we will help/advise more effectively.

In that way, issues and questions which are related to different subjects will be in separate tickets so other users or our support agents can find them easily.

Our policy is to have one issue or question per ticket for the reasons described already.

    Thank you for understanding.

    -

So if you can please just copy what you described on each individual ticket , they will get assigned to me, so we can have better focus on them and then we will proceed,

here for now we will just keep going about the point #1.

If i understood, these screenshots you sent are both from the mobile version of the page,

but it seems you are in the Landscape mode,

and if i presume when you switch the mobile view to Portrait, then the Dropdowns do not load there,

or they load, but you are not able to use them?

On your first screenshot i can see some dropdowns appear, for Columns such as "Municipality Name ",  "Category of Project" ,  "CSI Type" etc,  and i assume they just appear when using Landscape View,

    4385206832.png

But i am not understanding the second screenshot, you are typing in something in the "Name of the Project" text input filter,  can you elaborate more on the second screenshot, what seems to be the issue there?

    6457698386.png

If you can also please send me an URL of this page, so we can inspect the issue,

and if we can get back-end access, please?

Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens,

    and FTP credentials for safety,

so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.

We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.

    Hi Geraldine,

My sincerest apology for all the waiting time.

    -

Thank you for this update, i believe i understand the issue now.

In short, the dropdown filters that are working OK on desktop version of the table, as per your screenshots,

are not showing as available on mobile view, whether it is landscape or portrait view.

Can we please take a closer look at this on your front-end and back-end,

since we are not able to reproduce it on our Test sites/tables?

Please send me an URL of this page, so we can inspect the issue,

and if we can get back-end access, please?
