I am going to configure Amelia SMS Notification before testing. I can see there is a list of different SMS/Telephone providers in Australia. But I can't find a way to choose one from the list. After logged in I can click Recharge Balance button to select a value to recharge. I didn't go further at the Card or PayPal screen. So which SMS/Telephone provider will be used after I recharge?

    Hello Zengfu Xu,

thanks for reaching out to us.

The Amelia SMS is being provided by Twilio, an American SMS provider.

All the SMS messages from Amelia are being sent from the same number,

     (+1 510 822 8123), which is our provider.

We have no way of changing the number that the messages are being sent from.

You can only change the "Alpha Sender ID" and that will be the text that they see,  but the number of the sender can not be changed.

Please, let me know if you have any other questions.

    Kind Regards,

Hi Stefan. Thank you for your reply. When our patients received a text reminder from your provider (+1 510 822 8123), can they reply to that number? How much you would charge (in Australia Dollars) for each SMS reminder sent? If the list of Providers under Pricing can't be used, why do you show this list?

    Thank you!

    Hi Zengfu Xu,

    please, see the answers below

    1. Replying to SMS by Customers:

Technically speaking, a Customer can try to reply, but there is nobody who would be reading the SMS messages from our end,  so there would be no point in doing that.

    2. The price for Australia, for the SMS:

You can check this if you go to the Pricing Tab, and then find Australia, and you will see the list of all available SMS carriers that will be used.

    6815769375.png
    6584967091.png

For all of them it is the same price of $0.07725. So if any Customer makes a booking and their phone number ( country code) is from Australia, our Amelia SMS server is going to use one of the available Australian SMS providers to send them the SMS message, and it will charge your balance in the amount of how many segments your message has. For each segment, it will charge according to the Country where your Customer is in.

So depending on the country where your Customer is in, when they make a booking, it will use one of that country's SMS Providers to deliver the message to them.

The currency of our pricing in US Dollars for all countries here,  so you will have to convert them to calculate how much that is in Australian Dollars, sorry about that.

Very important to note,  as we stated in this Documentation, prices displayed on the Pricing list are for one segment of the SMS message. One segment of the message contains 160 characters, so if you add more than 160 characters the message will contain more than one segment and the price will be multiplied.

Special characters are counted differently and if you use them one segment will have less than 160 characters, so please bear that in mind.

    3. Choosing your country or SMS Provider :

You can not choose a Country or Provider as the "sender", because from your end, the SMS is always sent from the same number (+1 510 822 8123). That is sent from our American provider, Twilio, and depending on where your Customer is from, the phone number they input during the Form, then one of their country's SMS providers will be used to deliver the message, and it will be charged accordingly.

    4. Why do we show the Pricing List:

We covered that above, so basically, that is the price that will be deducted from your SMS balance, depending on the Country where the phone is registered.

I hope i cleared a bit, but please, let me know if you have any other questions.

    Kind Regards,

Thank you Stefan for your reply in details. I am now clear about how it is working. Only one thing I need to know further with your answer to Q1 Replying to SMS by Customers. Is the SMS Reminder in Amelia a one-way SMS messaging? If we can't read patient's reply to our SMS Reminder, we should implement a one-way SMS messaging. Otherwise patient may send us something while we are not aware of that. So we need Amelia to  send an SMS message that the recipient cannot reply to. Can this be done in Amelia?

    Hello Zengfu,

I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there is no option to change this with Amelia's built-in features. You can suggest that as a feature on the following link: https://features.wpamelia.com/

We carefully follow suggestions from our customers and the more vote the feature gets, the more priority we put on implementing that feature in one of the future updates.

Please, let us know if you have any other questions.
