Hey there, Awesome Customers!

Just a heads up: We'll be taking a breather to celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1st and 2nd - Wednesday and Thursday) and Orthodox Easter from Good Friday (May 3rd) through Easter Monday (May 6th). So, from May 1st to May 6th, our team will be off enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

During this time, our customer support will be running on a smaller crew, but don't worry! We'll still be around to help with any urgent matters, though it might take us a bit longer than usual to get back to you.

We'll be back in action at full throttle on May 7th (Tuesday), ready to tackle your questions and requests with gusto!

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find loads of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel). These gems might just have the answers you're looking for while we're kicking back.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Catch you on the flip side!

Warm regards,

TMS

It would seem that adding a total (Sum) to a numeric column does not show in a export to PDF or Excel.  The latter is unimportant as it can easily be added in Excel, but not getting a complete representation of the table in the PDF is a pity.  I am recommending this plugin to my clients and will be purchasing another copy soon, and they have asked about this feature.  I have a licensed version on another customer's site and confirmed this limitation.  Is there a plan to deal with this, or a work-around?

    Thanks
    Colin

    Hi, Colin.

Sorry to disappoint you on this, but

unfortunately, any calculations of Average, MIN, MAX, and Total will not be exported at all.

The table tools functionalities are based on a 3rd party HTML5 library and they are not customizable. Unfortunately, the library allows very little “fine-tuning” of the generated files, so font, size, and other properties cannot be changed.

If you wish to try better PDF export, our advice would be to acquire the WP Advanced PDF plugin, which offers a lot more options when creating PDF files from our tables, along with other content on your website.

At this time, we do not have any workaround to achieve exporting the calculation functions, sadly.

    Thanks,

That's disappointing though.  The PDF part of the plugin is a weak point, which is otherwise excellent.  As you say, the user has no control over the PDF output in terms of column width, font, etc.,  and if the table won't fit on the page it just throws the excess away.  Doesn't even put it on a second page.

I looked at the WP Advanced PDF plugin, but it's not been updated in a year, has only had 1000+ installs and does a session_start, which is a no-no in WP.  So is not a viable solution.

There are many other packages available for developing PDFs in code, and improving this area of your plugin would bring it up to the same standard as the rest of its features.  I have used mPDF for example, for PDF creation on the fly.

    Hi, Colin.

Apology for the waiting time on the reply.

Yes, I can completely understand what you mean.

Just wanted to comment one detail, you mentioned when a table is too wide and does not fit on the page,

for this we have two options,

when you enable PDF as available Table Tool in the table's back end settings,

you will see two new options appear,

    1. Page orientation – Here you can set portrait or landscape orientation. By default is set on portrait.
    2. PDF Paper Size – Here you can choose one of the paper sizes: A3, A4, A5, Legal, Letter and Tabloid. By default is set on A4.

I hope that might help at least with that issue.

Sorry to see that about the WP Advanced PDF Plugin, I see what you mean.

That was used/recommended by our senior colleagues some time ago, I guess it is no longer viable at this current state of WordPress.

Thank you for this feedback and the suggestion ideas, I am passing everything to our developers.

I hope they might improve this as soon as possible in one of the future updates.

Of course, please don't hesitate to open new tickets if anything else comes up that we might help with.
