We're Moving to a New Support Platform – Starting June 1st!
We’re excited to let you know that starting June 1st, we’ll be transitioning to a new support system that will be available directly on our product websites – Amelia, wpDataTables, and Report Builder. In fact, the new support platform is already live for Amelia and wpDataTables, and we encourage you to reach out to us there.
You'll always be able to reach us through a widget in the bottom right corner of each website, where you can ask questions, report issues, or simply get assistance.
While we still do not offer live support, a new advanced, AI-powered assistant, trained on our documentation, use cases, and real conversations with our team, is there to help with basic to intermediate questions in no time.
We're doing our best to make this transition smooth and hassle-free. After June 1st, this current support website will redirect you to the new "Contact Us" pages on our product sites.
Thanks for your continued support and trust – we’re excited to bring you an even better support experience!
If I have two tables and I want to use the data from the first table in the second table, how can I do that?
I mean writing "a formula in one cell of the first table that includes a value cell from the other table."
I found that someone had the same question for TablePress plugin. You can read about it for more information.
Hi, Ali.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.
-
Sorry to disappoint you, but something like this is not currently possible with wpDataTables.
It is not possible to write formulas like this directly in our table's cells.
You can check out our currently available Formula Columns here.
Regarding calculation functions, here is our Documentation section with examples, how you can use this.
You can also create a formula/calculated column.
And here is our Documentation with an example how you can present percentages, currency and other columns.
It is only possible to do basic math operations, and you can write the Formula for the entire column,
which will then apply to all rows of this column - but it is not possible to write a specific column only in a specific cell.
-
2. But, we do have an option to pull values from other tables, though, and this can also be used as part of a Formula Column.
For example, we have this feature "foreign key relations".
Let's say if you have some SQL Tables in your Database.
Or if you make several Manual Tables with our plugin ( this also makes new tables in your database, each Manual Table has its own set of columns and rows).
Then, you can make a new table, and add a Foreign Key Column to it.
This way, you can pull values from a remote table's column.
Choose which column from the remote table will be used for the "store value" ( an unique row ID),
and what value will be presented as "display value".
-
Now, you can add a new Formula Column in this table, and you can use the foreign key Column which pulled the remote values,
but I think this will not be exactly what you need.
If you wish to see better options in the future,
Please feel free to search on our suggestions page,
to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there, and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.
You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like ( it is also available in the plugin dashboard), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;
and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović
