    Hello,
I would like to use the master slave mechansim for a table with 30 columns only showing 4 or 5 cols. But I would like to have at the same time a form based filter which can act on all columns. Is that possible?

    Hi, Gero.

I am not sure i fully understood your use-case.

If you simply need advanced filters in a Form above table,

that will show filters for hidden columns ( for example, if the table got 30 columns, but for the front-end you hidden a lot of columns, but you wish to see filter for all columns + hidden ones),

then you can just enable this , in table back-end settings, Sorting And Filtering tab/ Filters in a form.

Then any column that has filtering enabled is going to show in the Advanced Filters in Form above the table,

regardless if the column is hidden or not.

Here is my example dummy table - i got a lot of hidden columns, but i will see all these columns that have the filtering enabled.

You can either toggle filtering for columns in each individual column setting,

or on this "Columns list" in the back-end of table settings.

Let me know if that is what you meant, or i misunderstood.

And i just wanted to point out that you can try wpDataTables before purchasing

on our sandbox Demo sites ( you can find links for the main plugin Demo,

as well as add-on Demos, in my signature),

and there is a 15-day money-back guarantee period,

so if you purchase the plugin, you can safely fully test it out, and if it doesn't fit your needs you can request and receive a refund in that period. ( same goes for all plugins and add-ons)

Let me know if you have any additional questions. smile.png

    Kind Regards,

    Thank you, Miloš ,

for the friendly and detailed reply. I am afraid I made an error in my question, I was talking about exactly what you describe but I wanted to apply the master DETAIL mechanism on the very same table with the detail view showing some of the visible and some (not all) of the hidden columns.

Did you prepare the example you made in a location where I can try/edit it?

    Thanks again, Gero

I looked at the sandbox but the tab for master detail view is not visible there so you probably did not install the resp. addon ..?

    Hi, Gero.

    1. You can use this Demo sandbox site to test the Master Details add on features.

You will be able to select any of the existing tables, and you can "play around" with filtering, settings,

which columns are visible on Desktop, Tablet, mobile,

and which will be visible in "More Details" section ( Pop Up,  Post or Template Page).

You can select any of the tables from the left section,

or make a new Table, as you wish.

For example, on that Column List screenshot, this "eye" icon is for hide/show on Desktop,

    this "second icon" is for Filtering enable/disable if the column is available for filtering( even though if it is hidden, it will still show in the Filters above table);

and the last one i marked is for show/hide in the Master Details 'more details' section.smile.png

( In my signature you can find other add-on Demo site hyperlinks, if you wish to try them out, too)

    2. In regards to setting this up for you as demonstration,

on our Demo sites, any changes we make, it gets reset to default tables+settings at every hour (on 15th minute of each hour),

so it does not save new changes/tables - i am not able to set it up, but i can make screenshot examples, or a short Video if needed.

Let me know if this helps, and if you try out the options you need on Master Details Demo.

If you have any additional questions, too, of course.

    Kind Regards,
