I'm setting up the Amelia plugin and is testing the payment process. Here I discover there is something missing. The strong authentication, which is mandatory in the EU
Where am I missing something in order to get it working? In the plugin or in my Stripe settings. btw, my Stripe settings seems to be ok.
Amelia switched to Stripe's API which includes SCA back in 2019. It uses Stripe's JS and Stripe's library that force the SCA depending on the bank that issued the card and the country in which the card was issued.
If you're just testing Stripe, you need to use a test card with the authentication method set up (for example this test card number: 4000003800000446). When you do it, Stripe will have a pop-up before completing the payment in Amelia:
Please note that this is a test card, so this popup is in test mode. In a real transaction, the customer would receive either an SMS with the code or they'd authenticate the transaction using an Authenticator app on their phone.
No popup at my site. Only this. I have tested in testmode and livemode. Someone else has tested for me with the same result. You are welcome to test at https://websitterservice.dk/amelia/ The event at 10kr is the testevent.
When I use the test card that has the authentication enabled, it works fine on your site as well:
Please reach out to Stripe's support and check with them if there's anything else that needs to be configured in your account. As mentioned in my previous response, Amelia uses Stripe's API, so neither the Stripe's fields nor the data entered in those fields have anything to do with us, other than they are embedded in the booking form. What you see there is Stripe's modal, Stripe's JS, and Stripe's fields.
We have thousands of users from the EU, and I can't recall anyone having issues with this.
Please let me know what Stripe's support says about this.

Hi Aleksandar
Thank you for testing and your reply. I'll contact Stripe Support again - and get back to you.
Best regards Jette
Hi Aleksandar,
I have asked the chat support at Stripe and the strong authentification depends on the bank connected to the creditcard.
https://stripe.com/en-dk/guides/strong-customer-authentication#exemptions-to-strong-customer-authentication
So, everything works - apparently ok :-D
Thanks for your time and help
Best regards Jette
