The amelia plug-in is not working again, same problem as last time. Also in response to your message my hosting provider said they had no settings they could adjust regarding this
It only took me a couple of minutes to fix this for you. It is not difficult, i have recorded a Video to show you how its done.
It is basically just manually uploading the Amelia installation files in your FTP plugins folder on the server, in the path :
../wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking
This process is explained on this article as well, so you can always refer to it if you have any issues like this again. Installation
"Unzip the installation file that you downloaded.
Open your WordPress installation folder to an FTP manager (it could be CyberDuck, FileZilla, Total Commander, or some other), go to wp-content/plugins/, and upload the folder you previously downloaded and unzipped. "
I will send you another private message with the screen recording, in case if this happens again so that you can see the steps how to do this with your cPanel - the message will be Private because i am showing your cPanel files - i don't wish to publically share that.
And @Rakinul, thank you for offering assistance, but we have already resolved the issue.
We can't say exactly what it is, but for some reason, there are some permission issues,
something on Robert's site is preventing Amelia from properly being installed directly from the WordPress dashboard,
but it works when we manually copy the files over FTP and only from cPanel ( from FTP clients such as FileZilla we get permission errors),
then we just activate Amelia Lite plugin on WP-Admin.
Thank you for sending us this correspondence, and i can say that you have now definitely asked them the right questions.
We can safely say that this issue did not come from Amelia, but obviously there were some files missing from your WordPress installation that was preventing plugins from properly being installed through the WP Dashboard.
It is good that they have isolated and brought back the missing files from your WordPress installation -
i think we can safely say that was the root of the issue,
and i am confident that going forward, you should not see issues like this coming back.
-
Just this part, when they say that it is not clear what happened that made the files from your WordPress installation structure missing, that is unfortunate :
We can't comment on that statement,
but we are very confident that now when your hosting provider has found and re-added the missing WordPress files,
you should not see issues like this happen again.
We will certainly be here, if you see any issues with Amelia let us know,
and we will respond and do our best to help you as quickly as possible.
Thanks. Now my question for the hosting provider is how come those files were missing and how can I prevent them from going missing again. I don't yet hear of any proposal from them to prevent this happening again
Contrary to my last reply, I see they are proposing that it would be a bug with a plug-in. Presumably the only way to avoid that is to make sure all plug-ins are updated but still there is no guarantee
It happened again this morning so I recovered by following your instructions. Amelia then said that it needed to be updated so I ran the update manually, it failed and now my website is not available with the following error:
"Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute." I
I followed the WordPress troubleshooting instructions by deleting the .maintenance file and got this message trying to access my website again:
"There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.
Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.
In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Amelia.
Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.
If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.
To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don't worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires."
I'm now chatting with the hosting provider support. He said it would take 5 to 10 minutes to investigate this WordPress issue
10 minutes later the hosting provider edited the PHP.ini file (whatever that means) now the website is back online without the Amelia.
I will extract it again to see if it gets restored. It got restored but obviously I'm not so keen on updating it now!
Hours later it updated itself automatically and everything seems to be working
The php. ini file is the default configuration file for PHP.
It's where you change the default settings of PHP and is often loaded to run applications that require PHP. And since PHP is the core language of WordPress, this is one of the most important files in your WordPress installation.
If you wish to learn more about this, you can check out useful resources such as this one.

It seems to me, judging by the correspondence and what happened with your hosting support,
that they might have finally fixed this issue permanently - i certainly hope so, fingers crossed.
-
If your Amelia has performed an automatic update and you stopped getting any errors on the site, that is a great sign.
Hopefully it should stay stable going forward, but we will be here, let us know if you encounter any issues with Amelia again.
Thank you for sharing these setting details with us.
Yes, it does make sense, if these values were set perhaps too low, then your WordPress server might have had issues due to that, in order to properly maintain stability and it would explain those issues we had when we tried to use the "easy way" of uploading the plugin via the WordPress dashboard in the Plugins tab.
-
It seems to us that going forward your site should be much more stable,
we will certainly keep our fingers crossed.
Let us know if you notice any issues again and we will do our best to respond as quickly as possible,
and to provide as much assistance as possible as well.
