I've been trying for several days to get Amelia to work, but I can't. Basically, after creating a trial appointment, the first confirmation email arrives in spam folder, while the reminder emails don't arrive at all.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.
We do not control how certain mail services treat mails and seems like mails from smtp.elasticemail.com host gets treated as spam.
We can confirm that the smtp.gmail.com host will send emails fine.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
On 30 May 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password.
In order to continue using SMTP with Gmail, you will need to set up an App Password for Amelia.
App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on.
When you enable the 2-step verification on your Google account, please follow these steps to configure the App Password for Amelia:
Here's my update about Amelia... After following your guide on how to configure Gmail, I did some testing and the booked counseling email arrives perfectly, while the other two (reminder from the day before and follow up counseling) unfortunately don't arrive at all. There is a question of whether it is a problem with the programming of the emails (but nothing has been changed from when they worked), or just the software.
WP Crontrol plugin is the best option for setting up cron jobs. You can find more info about it, and detailed instructions on how to set it up in our FAQ section.
So, if you already read that, and still need some clarification here's some further info.
You copy only the URL from below a scheduled notification:
Then, go to Tools/Cron Events, and click on the "Cron Schedules" tab. In it, add a 15-minute interval:
Then go back to the "Cron Events" tab and click on "Add new":
Below it, select the "PHP Cron event" radio button, and add the URL you copied from Amelia/Notifications in this form:
file_get_contents("yourURL");
Below it add the name and set it to run a few minutes in the future, using the provided time format. So, if you're adding the cron event at 12:45 (local, current time), set it to run at 12:50; and then select the schedule you previously selected:
Click on Add Event, and that's it.
The cron runs every 15 minutes and checks if there's an email to be sent. So, in Amelia Notifications, your scheduled notifications are set to run every day at a certain time. If you set that time to be 15:00 (for example), the emails will be sent when the cron runs after that time.
For example, there's an appointment booked for tomorrow, and it's currently 14:44 - the cron runs, but since it's not yet 15:00, it doesn't send anything. It runs again after 15 minutes, so at 14:59, but there are still no emails flagged by Amelia, so it doesn't send anything. Then it runs again at 15:14 and it sees there's an email that should've been sent at 15:00, so it sends the email. It will only send emails when Amelia sees an appointment scheduled for the next day.
Issues like this usually occur when there is a conflict either with the theme currently active on your website, or another plugin you have installed.
Can you please change the theme and see if the issue is resolved? If not, then please deactivate all other plugins except for our plugin, refresh the page where the issue is, and see if it is resolved (it should be). If it is, then start activating other plugins one by one, and after each activation refresh the page to see if the issue reoccurred. Once it does reoccur, you will have found the plugin causing the issue.
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing in response to your previous email regarding the issue I have been experiencing with the Amelia plugin on my website. Firstly, I want to mention that I have purchased another license of the plugin to receive support, and I have been trying to resolve the problem for the past two months. Unfortunately, I have not been successful in resolving the issue yet.
I understand that WordPress can be complex at times, and I appreciate the steps you have provided to identify the issue. However, I have followed all of your instructions over the past two months, and the issue still persists. Therefore, I don't think it's a plugin conflict problem.
I believe that as the developers of Amelia, it is your responsibility to find a solution to the issue. I have already tried your suggestions, and I think it's time for you to take a closer look at the problem.
I understand that you have a lot of customers to support, but I would appreciate it if you could provide me with some more personalized support. I am still experiencing the issue, and I would like to find a solution as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello Luca,
On 30 May 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password.
In order to continue using SMTP with Gmail, you will need to set up an App Password for Amelia.
App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on.
When you enable the 2-step verification on your Google account, please follow these steps to configure the App Password for Amelia:
1. Go to your Google Account.
2. Select Security:
3. Under "Signing in to Google," select App Passwords. (You may need to sign in again)
Please note:
If you don’t have this option, it might be because:
4. At the bottom, under "Select app" choose "Mail", and under "Select device" choose "Other (custom name)":
5. Enter the name (for example "Amelia SMTP"), and click on Generate:
6. You'll see a new popup, where the App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar:
7. Save the password somewhere safe just in case you need it again.
8. In Amelia Settings/Notifications use these details for SMTP:
"Mail Service" - SMTP
"SMTP Host" - smtp.gmail.com
"SMTP Port" - 587
"SMTP Secure" - TLS
"SMTP Username" - your email address
"SMTP Password" - the 16-digit App Password you previously created
Kind Regards,
Uros Jovanovic

Then it runs again at 15:14 and it sees there's an email that should've been sent at 15:00, so it sends the email. It will only send emails when Amelia sees an appointment scheduled for the next day.
I hope that helps.

Hi Uros,
After the last testing, nothing changed. Email does not arrive. :(
Hello Luca,
Thank you for the update on this.
Kind Regards,
Uros Jovanovic

Hello Luca,
Thank you for your patience and for your feedback on this.
The issue is that the cron events on your website cannot be modified (deleted), and also there is the following error on the cron events page.
One or more cron events have missed their schedule.
More information
You can check the reason why the cron did not run at the following link.
Please let me know if you were able to resolve the issue with cron events.
