Hey there, Awesome Customers!

Just a heads up: We'll be taking a breather to celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1st and 2nd - Wednesday and Thursday) and Orthodox Easter from Good Friday (May 3rd) through Easter Monday (May 6th). So, from May 1st to May 6th, our team will be off enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

During this time, our customer support will be running on a smaller crew, but don't worry! We'll still be around to help with any urgent matters, though it might take us a bit longer than usual to get back to you.

We'll be back in action at full throttle on May 7th (Tuesday), ready to tackle your questions and requests with gusto!

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find loads of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel). These gems might just have the answers you're looking for while we're kicking back.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Catch you on the flip side!

Warm regards,

TMS

    Hello,
I've got a program which has been used for a long time by my clients and I need to replace it with a 100% Web solution.
I currently checking if WPDataTables would be a candidate for that.
In order to use WPDataTables to replace this program I need to know
if WPDataTables can do or help me with these main tasks:

    1. Transfer/transform history data from actual tables (MS SQL) into WP like data (Post, ACF, other...) or specific tables. Data should be retrieved by SQL Statements or PHP Hooks / functions.
    2. This data should show-up in Datagrid Table format with calculated fields and input fields to change values
    3. Then from this data special views and reports should be printed into PDF

Can we do this with WPDataTables? Or would you propose something else?

      Thank you.
      Best regards.

    Hi, JM Duchi

Thanks for showing interest in wpDataTables.

We will do our best to advise if this use-case might be possible with our plugin.

    -

    1. Transfer/transform history data from actual tables (MS SQL) into WP like data (Post, ACF, other...) or specific tables. Data should be retrieved by SQL Statements or PHP Hooks / functions.

    - We don't have a way of transforming data from tables into data like Posts, ACF,

and we don't have any native integration with ACF at the moment.

    -

But we do have a method of creating SQL Query based table in order to pull data from database tables.

Please check out more about this here.

Please note: Using this plugin feature requires at least a basic knowledge of SQL. It is assumed that you can create the table in some MySQL data manager (e.g., PHPMyAdmin, MySQL Workbench), and prepare a SQL query that will return the data you need. If you do not know how to use MySQL, refer to the “Create a MySQL-query-based table by generating a query to MySQL database” section. It will explain how to create complete tables or MySQL queries without this basic knowledge. Please be advised that preparing MySQL queries for you is not included in the plugin support.

    In regards to hooks,

we have this available in the Documentaton section for Developers,

that is for users who have coding skills.

    2. This data should show-up in Datagrid Table format with calculated fields and input fields to change values

    - I am not 100% sure about the Datagrid Table format,

could you perhaps elaborate a bit more on exactly what you mean by that,  possibly with any screenshot examples or a short video?

    -

    In regards to calculated fields,

    we have some calculation functionalities, such as SUM/Average/Min/Max  that can be enabled for columns (more details on that);

and we also have the option for making Calculated/Formula based columns ( more details here)

    -

When you say "change values", i am not sure what you mean exactly, if you could elaborate a bit more on that?

    We do have editing capabilities;

and we have Conditional Formatting - that can change content of cells based on conditions.

    3. Then from this data special views and reports should be printed into PDF Can we do this with WPDataTables? Or would you propose something else?

Can you elaborate more on what you mean by special views and reports?

In regards to exporting via PDF,  we have our Export Tools :

The table tools functionalities are based on a 3rd party HTML5 library and they are not customizable. Unfortunately, the library allows very little “fine-tuning” of the generated files, so font, size, and other properties cannot be changed.

There are some limitations in this library we will emphasize for your awareness:

    • For tables with server-side processing, only the visible rows will be exported to any format. If you want the entire table to be exported (or copied to a clipboard), you need to choose the “Show All” feature in the “show … entries” block, and then do the export:6992668217.png
    • Generated PDF, XLS, CSV are not customizable. Unfortunately, the library allows very little “fine-tuning” of the generated files, so font, size, and other properties cannot be changed (but the title can – see below).
    • Conditional formatting is not reflected in any of generated export files.
    • Other front-end extensions cannot be combined with Table Tools. If you have row grouping enabled for the table, or there are some customizations you did yourself, they won’t be reflected in the generated Excel, CSV or PDF document, nor in the clipboard.
    • When you export tables with the wpDataTables plugin, please note that you can export values, but not formulas. WpDataTables doesn’t support exporting formulas, so a Formula column will be exported only with values; and any calculations of Average, MIN, MAX, and Total will not be exported at all.
    • Exporting images is not possible at the moment, but you are able to export them as HTML with the new “Include HTML” option.
    • You can’t export columns that are hidden – they will not be visible in any exporting or printing tool.
    • Export numbers with comma as decimal separators have issues in the Excel report. Please use the CSV export button or change column type to string for these columns.

My advice would be to acquire the WP Advanced PDF plugin, which offers a lot more options when creating PDF files from our tables, along with other content on your website.
