My situation is as follows: I have set the online booking system through Amelia but in my office the secretary will use thunderbird calendar to book appointments too. We use the Google calendar integration with both Amelia and thunderbird
What has happened is the following scenario: Someone books an appointment through Amelia. This shows up in my secretary's calendar as well. Then, the person will call my secretary to move the appointment in a different day/ time. My secretary will do that through the thunderbird calendar. Then the date/time of the event will change but the date/time on Amelia will stay the same. Moreover, the original time as booked on Amelia will keep the slot occupied so no appointment can be booked at this time through Amelia.
Additionally, when the secretary deletes the appointment on her thunderbird calendar (with the new date/ time), it deletes the original appointment booked through Amelia.
I think there is a need for better integration of Amelia and Google calendar.
Do you have any suggestions to help the situation (apart from letting the customers using the customer panel to manage their appointments)?
Here is how the Google Calendar integration with Amelia works:
With Google Synchronization, all employees in Amelia can sync their working schedule with their Google Calendar. Each appointment booked in Amelia will be added to their Google calendar with the customer added as a participant.
If Employee already has events in the Google calendar marked as busy, those will not be available for booking in Amelia – this will prevent overbooking.
Rescheduling, canceling, or deleting the appointment needs to be done in Amelia. Suppose you reschedule the appointment in Google Calendar. In that case, that will not reflect in Amelia, but if you reschedule the appointment in Amelia, it will be updated in Google Calendar as well.
Features are pushed up on our "to-do" list when there are a lot of customers requesting those features, so having your vote as a customer can be beneficial to this feature being developed sooner.
If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to open a new ticket, and we'll gladly help.
