I purchased the Formidable Forms integration add-on with the expectation that frontend users could edit with it. I see the frontend edit button for the manual form, but I can't find it to use with my Formidable Form. I see that it can be done with Gravity Forms. Is this not possible with Formidable Forms? It wasn't clear when I made the purchase.
Is Gravity Forms the only form builder that can be used to edit on the frontend with wpDataTables? If so, which Gravity Forms license/add-ons exactly are needed to make Gravity Forms work with wpDataTables?
Gravity Forms integration for wpDataTables is an add-on that requires wpDataTables and Gravity Forms plugins installed and activated on your WordPress website to be able to work.
You can choose any of the available Gravity Forms licences - they all have the same functionalities, same goes for wpDataTables.
The only difference between licences is they are annual or lifetime,
and the number of domains that you can register licence on.
( And unlimited number of subdomains for all licences).
Thank you for the reply. I still feel like this was not made clear on the website. It says both Gravity Forms and Formidable Forms can be integrated with wpDataTables. Will wpDataTables create this feature for Formidable Forms in the near future? I started out with Gravity Forms and dropped it because it couldn't do frontend editing.
Can other plugins for user registration, login, membership be integrated with wpDataTables, or does it all have to be through Gravity Forms? Can I skip Gravity Forms and just use a registration plugin and tie a user's registration to an editable entry in wpDataTables?
I am sincerely sorry for this inconvenience, but i am not sure i understood everything you pointed out.
1.
On the website page where the integration for Formidable Forms is,
we did not state that front-end editing is possible,
but, we also did not point out that front-end editing is not possible,
so i will pass your feedback to our Marketing Team, and we will do our best to improve the page so that it is clearer for users.
Thank you for the feedback.

We do have a button for "live preview", though, that takes you to the Documentation with examples and a video about the integration add-on.
We also have an absolutely free Demo, for our main plugin, and all the add-ons, ( on each Documentation page there is a Demo link - as well as in my signature), so you can fully test out all the features,
and there is a 15-day money-back guarantee period, so if users purchase the plugin, and any add-ons, they can safely fully test it out,
and if it doesn't fit their needs they can request and receive a refund in that period. ( same goes for all our plugins and add-ons)
2.
I have to quote you here :
" It says both Gravity Forms and Formidable Forms can be integrated with wpDataTables".
That is true, you can integrate Gravity Forms, and you can also integrate Formidable Forms with wpDataTables.
Can you please clarify what you meant by this?
3.
If you mean to ask are we going to implement front-end editing for Formidable Forms,
our developers will do their best - but it would be very difficult, due to the limitations from the Formidable Forms themselves,
so i can't say an ETA if or when that might be possible.
4.
You said :
' I started out with Gravity Forms and dropped it because it couldn't do frontend editing.'
I am not sure what you meant here as well - if you mean the Gravity Forms on their own can't be edited, i can't comment on that,
but tables made fromm Gravity Forms integration with wpDataTables can be editable if you enable server-side processing, please check more details here.
5.
I am not aware of any functionality about user registration, login, membership being achieved by the Gravity Forms, can you please elaborate more about that?
If you found a Gravity Forms add-on that can achieve user registration, login, membership,
please note :
Gravity Forms integration add-on is working with wpDataTables plugin and the core Gravity Forms plugin.
However, integration with other Gravity Forms add-ons isn’t confirmed, so we cannot guarantee that it will work.
If you wish to see the full list of limitations, please check at the bottom of the Documentation page that i sent eariler.
6.
I am sorry, but currently we don't have integration with any user registration, login, membership plugins.
to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there, and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.
You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like ( it is also available in the plugin dashboard), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;
and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.

Let me know if anything was not clear, and if you have further questions. Thank you
Please note: Using this plugin feature requires at least a basic knowledge of SQL. It is assumed that you can create the table in some MySQL data manager (e.g., PHPMyAdmin, MySQL Workbench), and prepare a SQL query that will return the data you need. If you do not know how to use MySQL, refer to the “Create a MySQL-query-based table by generating a query to MySQL database” section. It will explain how to create complete tables or MySQL queries without this basic knowledge. Please be advised that preparing MySQL queries for you is not included in the plugin support.
Thank you for the reply. I would appreciate you speaking with marketing about a clear description of the product verses having to waste time sandboxing or a trial period. It would be simple to just say frontend is, or is not included.
Maybe I can better explain what I want to do. I need to be able to have users register, subscribe to a membership and login. The user would use a form to feed data to the wpDataTables post. I want the user to be able to login and edit on the frontend their own post.
Is it possible to accomplish this using Gravity Forms integration, Gravity Forms User Registration and Stripe add-ons and Members plugins with wpDataTables? Your reply seemed to suggest that they may not. Would you have any other suggestions if not?
Both integration add-ons for wpDataTables were created to work with core plugins. So, the Gravity Forms integration add-on is working with the wpDataTables plugin and the core Gravity Forms plugin. However, integration with other Gravity Forms add-ons isn’t confirmed, so we cannot guarantee that it will work. The same applies to Formidable Forms.
Gravity Forms, for example, have over 100 add-ons, and none are free. Since we developed the integration for Gravity Forms and not for any of the add-ons (plus, the majority of add-ons are developed by a 3rd party, not Gravity Forms), we don't have the funds nor the time to test each add-on that's developed for the core plugin.
Back to the topic - Gravity Forms can be editable through wpDataTables if you enable the Server-Side Processing option. There's also an option to enable the "Users see and edit only own data" in the "Editing" tab above the table, so the users will only see and edit their own data from the form on the front end.
If you need this table to be added to your users' posts, you would need to provide the same shortcode on each of their pages (posts).
Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you
I'm experimenting with these plugins and addons now, specifically with the User Registration addon and a membership and user plugin.
I have several questions about the user editing. You mentioned I needed to add the table link to the user's page or post in order for them to edit it. I will have several thousand users. How do I allow each user to edit just their post, but still have all the data in one table (it'll be sorted by state)? This is ultimately what I'm looking to do. Do I have to create a single entry "table" for each user so they have a shortcode? And if so, how would I combine all the single entries into 1 table? Or am I not thinking about this correctly? Could it be that once someone registers as a subscriber, they would automatically only be able to edit their post?
I would really appreciate it if you could find the answer for me. There are plugins which allow front end editing with a table, but I need to allow my subscriber/user to login and edit their own table row after filling out a form (which feeds the data to the table). That's basically it. I hope you can find out the info.
Thank you Miloš for finding that out for me! I'm trying it out now. On the tutorial it says to copy mySQL from the edit page and put it in a new table, however I can't copy it. Do you know why? I attached a screenshot.
If it works differently on your end, I can take a look from your WP-Admin, if you wish.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

Hi, Margaret
Thanks for reaching out to us
You are correct - the only Form integration that can be made editable at this time, is the Gravity Form add-on.
Before purchase, you can test all plugin and Add-on features on our sandbox site.
You can check more details about this integration here.

Hi, Margaret
My apologies, i did not answer your last question :
'Can I skip Gravity Forms and just use a registration plugin and tie a user's registration to an editable entry in wpDataTables? '
If you can please elaborate a bit more what kind of process would be included in the user's registration,
where would this user data be stored, and we will advise if something like that would be possible?
If the data would be in the WordPress database,
the only way to pull data from the database for our plugin can be done via our SQL Query based tables.
Please check more details about this here.

Hi, Margaret
Sorry about the waiting time on this question.
To be honest, I am not 100% sure if I correctly understood the goal,
but we will get a second opinion from a senior colleague - once we go over all the details together,
I will report back to confirm this for you.
Apologies once again for all the waiting time.
We will report back as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Hi, Margaret
Firstly, my sincere apologies for the waiting time.
-
In order to have one table that can be filtered for different users,
so that you will allow each user only to see and edit their entries,
or in other words, only the entries which they input in the Form,
you can achieve this by enabling "Users see and edit only their own data".
-
In regards to adding shortcodes of the table on every profile page for every user,
you can make a template where it will be the same shortcode for each profile page.
Let me know if that makes sense?
Thank you
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović

Thank you Miloš for finding that out for me! I'm trying it out now. On the tutorial it says to copy mySQL from the edit page and put it in a new table, however I can't copy it. Do you know why? I attached a screenshot.

Hi, Margaret
That is odd, it should let you copy the MySQL Table name, from the Editing tab.
Just to point out that, in order to mark the table name, you either have to double-click on it,
or you can drag your mouse over it, to select it, then you can copy and paste it in the SQL Query.
Here is how it works on my site, you can see my screen recording : https://watch.screencastify.com/v/Ftc6wCIg3E4RyY8umc7V
