I have a yearly Pro license and was wondering how much discount would I get if I would upgrade to lifetime Pro license. According to the website https://wpamelia.com/pricing/ I would only need to pay the difference as I already paid for 2 years.
I am asking this because if I log in to the store to upgrade, the cost is the same as I would have no license, which obviously is not the correct amount.
You do not have a discount the prices are pro-rated, qdepending on the license you currently have, different options will be offered in the modal.
What you should know about the upgrade:
The price that you will pay for the upgrade will be a pro-rated charge, meaning you won't be paying for the price difference between licenses, since we cannot refund the time spent on the license you currently have. And your current license expires in November.
Example:
You bought a Basic Yearly license for Amelia, which costs $79 (roughly $0.22 per day).
After 100 days, you want to upgrade to Pro Yearly, which costs $119 (roughly $0.33 per day).
Time remaining on Basic (what going to reduce the upgrade price): $58.3 (265 * 0.16)
Time spent on Basic: $22 (100 * 0.22)
Time remaining on Pro: $87.45 (265 * 0.33)
So, the price is not Pro - Basic (119-79=40), but instead a pro-rated charge, and you are going to be charged around $87.45 - $58.3 = $29.15.
If you're upgrading from a yearly subscription license to a yearly subscription license, it still renews on the same date (1 year after purchase) and your purchase code remains the same. This is basically why the prices are pro-rated.
But I do not want to upgrade to another yearly subscription, but to a lifetime one. So when I bought the yearly licenses are no longer relevant, as a lifetime subscription is...well... for the whole lifetime. Just like a house - you pay yearly mortgages until you've paid off the house, then it's yours forever.
Given your example and how you calculate the upgrades, it means that I should be paying only the difference since the first two years I paid are already included in the time period of the lifetime subscription.
No, it doesn't work that way. The first year where you used the license was valid for the first year of use, and it cannot be included in the new price for a lifetime license.
If you used the license for the second year, for example for 9 months, the price for the lifetime license will be reduced for the remaining 3 months that you had available for the license that you paid for the second year, because you have already used that license for 9 months.
So the price for a new license can be reduced only for the remaining time for which the original license was valid.
