When setting the address of a location, an error pops up saying 'This page can't load Google Maps correctly'. I have set up the Google Maps API and it is correctly connected, as it has brought in map thumbnails on the locations dashboard. However, when clicking on a location and setting its address, this error comes up.
The console displays this error:
"This API key is not authorized to use this service or API. Places API error: ApiTargetBlockedMapError"
It seems to be an issue with the 'Places' API. Looking at my restrictions, you can see the Places API has been selected. So I am not sure why access is being restricted in this case. Any help would be appreciated.
I am not 100% sure, never personally saw this exact error,
perhaps it's best if i take a look at the back-end , to inspect the console error in more details - if needed we will get help from our devs.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.
You can write credentials here just check PRIVATE Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Actually, i can also send you this additional information, if you'd like, you can double-check these points, in most of the cases with any Google MAP errors, this helps.
Did you enable Google Map API Keys on your Google account (enabling all necessary API's from the screenshot below), and have you added your billing account? You can read more about this here.
When these are enabled, please add the APIs in API Restrictions on the "Credentials" page:
If you did all this, please check if you inserted the API keys in Google Map API Key option in General settings of Amelia.

Of course - if you go through this, and if it doesn't help, we will still check the back-end error, and we can ask for advise from our senior 2nd level Team, if needed.
I will get some help from senior colleagues to use this access correctly, and we will do our best to help you from our end.
As soon as they help me, and we give it a go - I will report back on our findings from our end.
If you wish to save time, you can check this from your end.
To be honest, since I personally didn't deal with any error like this before, I researched to see what other users with same error did to solve it, and I found a couple of interesting pages.
You can check it out - I hope it might help, for example, this user from Stack Overflow found a solution for the exact error,
Thank you for your help. I was able to resolve the issue by unrestricting the API. While I did have all the APIs selected that were required, perhaps there is a missing dependency here?
Otherwise, happy to have this resolved.
A slight thing that might be related. I notice that for Google Calendar appointments, the location is correctly placed in the location field of the appointment. Whereas in iCal the location is not placed in the location field of the calendar appointment. Instead I would have to include it manually in the description. Is this a limitation if iCal? No worries if this should be a separate ticket.
1. I am happy to see that you resolved the Google API issue, and thank you for sharing the solution with us.
2.
I will have to check this with out 2nd level Team, to see how the default behaviour should be in regards to the location field of the calendar appointment for iCal,
and if we maybe already have a task for developers to improve this.

Hi, Adam
My sincere apology for all the waiting time, I am following up about the point 2,
the Location in Calendars.
Our developers are already working on this issue, it has been flagged some time ago.
They will improve this, but I can't say an ETA when that will be finished.
You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like, where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;
and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.
Kind Regards,
