Hello, New to Amelia, so far very impressed. Need clarification about the difference between 'Events' and 'Appointments', what is it?
Is it possible to simplify the schedule for class times? We would like to be able to select custom dates and times for Yoga classes. But the appointments settings with dates times buffers etc make it very complicated.
There are quite big gaps between classes. For example there might be an in person class late morning, then online classes late after noon or early evening.
I guess I would like to enter these as individual times and dates so that customers won't be given any other times slots to choose from. Unsure how to set this up.
Should we just use 'events' for each class instead? If we use 'events' will these show up as bookable appointments on the customer's front end?
I'm afraid that we didn't quite get what you want to achieve exactly? Can you explain to us in a some short example, or send us a couple of screenshots?
Events can be used for various occasions, like multiple days traveling tours, scheduling conferences to set up group training or classes that repeat for some period of time.
While appointment can not be used for a grater period of time than 23.30 hours.
My personal opinion is that appointments are the better option for every day services and if you ever organize a Yoga retreat then you can use the Event option for example.
You can set all that in employee working hours.
If you want your employee to work only on Kundalini Yoga, for example on Mondays and Fridays from 12 to 13, you need to set that in employee working hours. And if you want it to work on Hata Yoga every day you can set that also.
OK, I get what you are saying about having events for retreats etc.
So if I set up events then hide them will the employee work hours e.g. 12-1pm Friday or Monday show up in the appointments as slots on those days for those times at the frontend? So far I cannot get that to work, hence the change to events.
This is the problem that I see, the appointments just don't show up at specific time slots on the frontend booking forms.
Do employee work hours directly relate to Appointments and Events or only to appointments?
I find the jargon confusing between 'events' 'appointments' and 'work hours'. Are they all one and the same?
On the video tutorials they discuss appointments and events interchangeably but only seem to demo appointments rather than give examples for events. There is not enough information about events bookings.
I tried appointments for specific times and days but on the frontend form, it allowed customers to book any day of the week for the service which was not ideal at all. It did not show the employee time slots of 12-1pm on the Monday or Friday service. So that's why I changed to events instead.
The DIVI AM modules are limited too, they are not well designed. For example, if I select 'show all events' in the DIVI AM Booking Module, the dropdown list of events includes all events ever created, even deleted and inactive ones, which is not good when they are shown at the frontend events list. I want to be able to select any number of events inside the DIVI Module rather than have all event shown. Or at least be able to select only active events in a certain category.
My work around has to add two separate DIVI text modules instead and enter each event as shortcodes to a text module e.g. one text module with shortcode, [ameliaevents type=list event=1 tag='in-studio'] and the other one with shortcode, [ameliaevents type=list event=5 tag='in-studio']
This means each time I will have to add each event with a shortcode to a DIVI text module. Not ideal.
I've tried to explain the frustrations. While the plugin has some greta features , it is not that flexible as I had expected from the marketing blurb.
Appreciate you help in trying to fix my issues and improve the plugin and AM DIVI modules,
We are not sure what you are asking us exactly and what exactly you want to achieve. We will try to help you as best we can.
For this reason, we always insist that you open a separate ticket for each issue. Too long tickets with a plenty of questions can be confusing and we can't help you effectively.
Amelia is "flexible" up to a point, unfortunately, no single product could ever meet everyone's needs 100%. We try to find a balance so that as many users as possible are satisfied. And of course, we will continue to improve Amelia.
I see in the system that you already have a ticket related to divi in which you are already communicating with my colleague. As far as the module is concerned, Amelia is working in that way for now, but I'll kindly ask you to add it as a feature suggestion on this page.
Features are pushed up on our "to-do" list when there are a lot of customers requesting those features, so having your vote as a customer can be beneficial to this feature being developed sooner.
As for your questions regarding working hours, I will now explain them to you, and you can also read them in our documentation on how Amelia works.
Employee working time is directly related to services.
Working hours that you set in employee working hours, those working hours will appear as available for booking services/appointments on the front.
Events are separate features and are not linked to employee working hours. For events, you do not need to have an employee assigned, but in case you assign an employee to an event, that employee will not be available for booking an appointment as long as it is active on a event.
If you have any more questions please open another ticket and we will gladly help you there.
