Adding user input fields for use in a query

    I have Gravity Forms and wpDataTables. I have a query that works as intended (for now). The query uses two items that I manually input from the backend to get the results I am looking for. I would like to have a way to allow the front end users to input the two items. How can I do this?

    Hi, Bill

    Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

    I am sorry, but i am not sure if i understood this setup.  Did you maybe make an SQL Query by pulling the data from Gravity Forms out of the WP database;

    or you made a query as questions for the Form?

    -

    When you say  you manually input two items, i suppose that is two columns, and you make new entries for it?

    Basically, whether you use Gravity Forms integration, or an SQL based table  -  for both we can enable front-end editing,  if you enable server-side processing on the Data source tab.

    Then you can go to the Edit tab, and enable front-end editing.

    But i have a feeling you need something else, and i did not understand everything.

    If that's the case, if you can please elaborate a bit more, and show me a screenshot or a video of how everything looks - i will do my best to advise. Thank you

    Kind Regards,

    Screenshot below:

    This is the desired results on the front end. The user will select one name from each drop down list and press 'Compare'. That will cause a query to run and the results of the query will be shown in the table. The screenshot is the actual table but the Gravity form is a screenshot pasted on the web page for demo purposes.

    The screenshot below is the back end. I can refresh the page and cause the query to run and then it displays the resulting data in the table, so the query works.

    I need to figure out the best (or easiest) way to input data and run a query from the front end.

    Hi, Bill

    Firstly my apologies for all the waiting time.  I wanted to double-check everything with our devs, to see if they got any advise to achieve this.

    At this time, we don't have any native functionalities to achieve this, but you can suggest it to our developers - they will do their best to make a solution in the future.

    Please feel free to search on our suggestions page

     to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there,  and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.

    You can certainly follow our changeLog page if you'd like ( it is also available in the plugin dashboard), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;

    and our newsletter, so you're informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.

    -

    If you need a solution for it now, maybe it can be done with a high level of custom work, but I am not sure, to be honest. Our developers are very busy at the moment, working on some priority tasks and fixing bugs and issues with our plugins, so they won't be having the time for custom work in the near future.

    We can recommend reaching out to someone who does custom solutions, such as WP Kraken, but we can't advise on their pricing.

    Kind Regards,
