WP Data Tables consistently doesn't recognize table headers in excel

    I am working on two large projects that are taking some time and are being loaded as ready. Virtually ever time I load a new table it does not recognize that their are table headers. I have set the headers, I have set print area, when I select sort, the table headers display, but datatables does not recognize them. I end up copying the EXACT same table from one spreadsheet to another and then I am able to add. It takes an unreasonable amount of time to do this every time. What is wrong?

    Hi, Alison

    Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

    I can not load the related page in my browsers;

    so i am not able to see the table.

    I am not sure i fully understood the issue.

    Can you elaborate a bit more about the steps you do to cause the issue?

    Do you try to import the data to make a new table;

    or maybe try to import into an existing table to update it;

    did you first make a Manual table;

    or are you trying to link a source Excel file to a table in our plugin?

    -

    If the Excel has more than 2000 rows, that might be the reason ;

    Or perhaps if you linked it, and then made any changes like this;

    once you create a table from an Excel file, changes in this file, like:

    • Changing the column’s name,
    • Changing the column’s order,
    • Deleting the column, and
    • Adding a new column.

    are highly not recommended, because the table in the wpDataTable plugin will not work, at the moment. If you make any of these changes, please recreate the table again.

    -

    But i am not sure exactly of the steps when the issue happens;  if you can confirm with more details, please?

    Also, if you can send me one of the Excel files, and i can try to replicate the same issue on my end - if you provide me with the steps to cause the issue?

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards,

    Miloš Jovanović

    I apologize for the delay. The email went to my spam folder. This happens when I am creating a new table. I can place a new file in the media folder so you can create the file from that if you want. I added you as a user and have sent your information in a separate email.

    So....

    Upload a spreadsheet to Media folder

    Go to WP Datatables

    Create new table from Excel

    Link to the table in Media folder: Finding Aid Web Alice Irene Welden August 2 2022

    Everything looks fine until you hit Save, then you get the parse error.
